There’s no way I would accept that. I’d get rid of the jeep before I looked at that every day.

I’m || that close trading it, so many problems….
1. Steering gear
2. Paint once
3. Replaced the differential
4. More corrosion and color difference

I’m extremely disappointed in my first Jeep / first newer car at 40k….

Looking on vroom right now for possibly a different make…. Thought about a gladiator for the longest time but even want to gamble more paint issues….

Looking for advise on what to do.

2018 Jeep JL black

Is there anything I can do about the paint difference?????

I had ( and still have) the corrosion on the doors and hinges. I had both rear doors repainted and the color is way off under lighting. The rest of the Jeep looks almost brown and the painted doors look dark purple. I get it’s new paint but I don’t want to get the other doors and hood repainted and the Jeep look patchy on a sunny day. (Don’t mind the dirt it rained and my tires throw up some dirt)

Over all, Is there anything I can do to get Jeep to fix it all? Or am I just stuck with a 40K patchy vehicle?

P.S even the new painted door have corrosion.

(Pictures we’re took at night to showcase the color difference that can be see on a sunny day)

Def get them to do a re-do. That is not acceptable. We had to get independent opinions from 4 other bodyshops before ours agreed to a re-do. They will try to sluff it off otherwise saying it is to industry standards. Push BS and go up the chain of command. We had to contact the owner before they agreed to re-do.

Ours has been in twice for 2 separate warranty claims. The corrosion does get progressively worse. Both times each different bodyshop had to redo their work due to painting errors. Is a PITA that subcontractor QC is so poor. But it is what it is. Apparently getting and holding onto competent workers is very tough.

Guessing that the epoxy will be enough and lifetime warranty will be honoured down the road if corrosion somehow comes back. Stellantis needs to get this BS sorted.

sounds like I’m getting it fixed and definitely looking at other options…

I am in EXACT situation as you! Same "list" of warranty so far at 35k and mine is in body shop now for all hinges/doors. IF it comes back looking like yours for a paint match, there is NO WAY I will accept it. You should ask for another re-paint to match!

A gladiator would have the same paint issues as the wrangler

Is there anything else we can do? Between this thread and the JL FB group (plus I'm sure there's many, many other groups) there are SOOOO many of us dealing with the corrosion issue. How are there not hundreds of lawsuits or a class action lawsuit??? SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE, JEEP!!!!!

I’m sure it would but I’m really regretting getting a black car ?
Maybe you just mean in general...I have black, I know what you mean.

But if you mean paint color being fixed and not matching, I've seen other talk about their colors not matching after being fixed. So that's always going to be a concern no matter the color.

I’m going to my dealership 8/18/21 to have my 2018 JL Sahara evaluated.
All 4 doors are affected.
32,000 miles
garaged.
I’ll let you know what they say.

After some excellent advice from @cripton805 I took Sarge in on 8/23/21 and picked it up yesterday (8/31). All four doors were repaired to my satisfaction. Body shop manager said their work is covered for the life of my jeep, so I don’t have to worry if the paint bubbles again after the 5 year original body warranty expires. I hope the hood and tailgate don’t need repair but I’ll be keeping an eye on them too.
The repair estimate had 10.5 hours labor per door so 42 @$50/hour = $2100 if it wasn’t under warranty. They had it for 6 business days so I‘m happy with their efficiency too.
FYI @JeepCares Craig at SZOTT Collision is the manager I worked with.
Thanks again @cripton805 !

Do you know if the replaced hinges or blasted/sanded? Also, did they paint UNDER the hinges to fix the factory deficiency? Congrats on getting it fixed, bet you feel much better about it.

Good questions @brewtus98
Craig wasn’t there when I picked Sarge up. I’m planning on calling him today to thank him for keeping his word on the 5-6 day estimate. I’ll ask him and get back to you.
And yep, I feel MUCH better about having this behind me. Thanks

Thanks. I'm working with @JeepCares and my dealer bodyshop to ask the questions and let them know I want it fixed the right way! Hopefully it helps.

Hulk is back in the shop. Driver’s door was bubbling all along the bottom edge. Hinges were done previously. Tailgate is also bubbling. Previous repairs to the paint seem to be holding.

I wrote above that I may skip the whole corrosion repair process. My dealer sends it to a private paint shop company. I spoke with that manager who says that they do prime under the hinges, have been doing this for years on several makes and models, and can't recall any coming back for repeat corrosion. Also very little paint color matching issues unless it is an older car. Since I am keeping my Jeep for the long haul I have decided to go ahead and let them repaint all 5 panels, hopefully that will last at least longer than the factory job.
My paint repairs came out great! I plan to keep the Jeep for many years, ideally by the time the corrosion returns they will decide to cover it again, as so many people are having it. It took them 2 weeks but they loaned me a new Grand Cherokee -a super nice ride I must say. The paint is the only item I have needed actual repair on, mine is an early 2018 v6 6spd.
