Yeah that is sad to hear, I’d be disgusted too. I told myself the only way I’m getting rid of this Jeep is if it develops corrosion issues. To me that’s something that just completely ruins the body, even if it’s resprayed it’s not the same. I don’t blame you for thinking about trading it. I hope fca takes care of it for you
Lucky for me. I got a stupid good deal on mine. 32k OTD.

But basically any money I saved will go into paint repair or replacing the doors.

Your Jeep looks sweet.
I have a base Sport with the upgraded dif and rear axle. I still haven't found a trail that it can't handle. Steep or rocky, but I don't rock climb. So, if all else fails, I will just beat and destroy the hell out of the Jeep and just put half doors. I didn't want to dump 50k on a Rubi I knew I was going to beat on so hard offroad.

Good Luck.
Thanks for the input.

I'm a long time lurker who just recently discovered corrosion on my hood. This led me here, which led to to discovery on my hinges and bottoms of doors. Overall, I have nearly 30 different "identifed" areas of corrosion.

My local dealer has been great and brought their paint guy out to have a look as he took pictures to send to Jeep. I guess I'm lucky (?) in that all 4 doors and hood had corrosion leading into the seams. This would include the interior bottom edge of the doors and the interior bottom edge of the hood.

This led to a ~2 week turnaround where jeep has agreed to replace all 4 doors and the hood. I'm relieved at the outcome, but probably won't be keeping the jeep after the repairs. This was my first jeep (which i love) and it kills me that I need to look elsewhere. I want to have faith in the repairs, but I believe we are just seeing the beginning if this.

I'm currently serving in military in a location where jeeps are as common as civics. I have been working in the same facility for 7 years and have seen all the new JLs roll in(~9). All of them that were purchased in 2018 have this issues, some worse than mine. We have a couple gladiators that are still good, but this issue didn't pop up for me for a few years. The most surprising part is that none of them have even noticed the issue. I try my best to talk to them and let them know whats going on.

I appreciate Jeep stepping up to replace the doors, but I can't trust them to do what's best for me in the future. I would not recommend a JL to anyone until this problem has been confirmed and fixed at the factory. We deserve better.

I too am in the same boat. After years of wanting a Jeep all my life I finally purchased my first, and not 3 years into its ownership I have corrosion to all 4 doors and hood.

This is unacceptable. When you purchase a $58,000 Rubicon Unlimited you expect for it to be done correctly.

I do not buy into the "it's a jeep thing". If I am purchasing a vehicle at the same price point as a Lexus RX350, I expect similar build quality. Not excuses.

Sorry, had to vent. This is so frustrating.

Update on mine, I am out of warranty (39k miles) on my 2018 so the dealer won't touch it. I called another dealer, same thing. I contacted @JeepCares, they can't help either. So after about 20 years of consecutive jeep ownership, and with no indication a new JL won't have the same issue - I am looking to trade for a Bronco. I'll still be a jeep guy since I will keep my old CJ. But frankly, this sucks.

I thought corrosion coverage was 5yrs/60k?

Apparently that only applies if the panel rusts through.
@JeepCares, Can we please get clarification on this? Are the corrosion issues noted in this thread being covered by the 3yr/36k basic warranty, or by the 5yr/60k corrosion warranty? If you do not know the answer, can you please have someone at Jeep reply?

Many of us have had the corrosion return after having it repaired multiple times (or have had new corrosion appear on other panels). We should not be responsible for paying the repair cost when the issue returns after the 3yr/36k basic warranty expires. This corrosion issue is clearly a widespread manufacturing defect, and in no way the fault of the owner.

I can't say this strongly enough... WE NEED SOME SORT OF OFFICIAL WORD FROM JEEP ON THIS!!! They need to step up and show how much they actually care about their current and future customers!

This is what I got back from @JeepCares
" I am sorry to hear of these concerns so soon in ownership, Luke! Unfournatly, there are no recalls or TSBs associated to your VIN for this concern so it is likely that all repairs to it will be out of pocket, I do apologize. "

I do not blame JeepCares, they just seem to have no ability to actually help. And unfortunately for me, by the time FCA (Jeep) actually attempts to address this - I will no longer be a Jeep owner.

just as an experiment, i posted a poll here (https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/corrosion-poll.69117/#post-1452853) to gauge how many members here have corrosion, where it's located, and how old their jeep is. curious to see the results and compile a lot of the feedback that's on this thread
I did one a few months back “BUBBLE CLUB”

haven’t checked on it in the past few months. But clearly many people have chimed in with this issue arising unfortunately on their jeeps in the past while.

Hi, Redneck_Jedi. To start, I am from Jeep and work on behalf of the company to help address customer concerns. That said, although the Corrosion Limited Warranty is outlined in your Warranty Manual, I can say this:

All concerns are different and therefore, I cannot speculate as to whether or not each customers concerns mentioned here will fall under the outlined warranties. I cannot see your concerns nor would I be in the best position to diagnose them, as only the dealership technicians can do that. With this in mind, if you anyone has any questions about the warranty associated to their vehicle, you can call 1-800-992-1997 anytime. Specialists are available 24 hours a day.

Sorry I cannot be of more assistance here.

So no offense meant to you Kate, I am sure you are just doing your job, but my take ways from this are:
1. If you are out of basic warranty (36k) - you are probably screwed
2. Jeepcares is no more than a mouthpiece to make it seem like Jeep cares, but doesn't have the ability to really do anything to help.

Until today, I hadn't seen the stats on the thread above, and I am pretty disappointed. My new 2-door hasn't arrived yet, and I'm now wondering if I should try to cancel the transaction and purchase something else. Even as an old Jeep guy and loyal customer for decades, I don't buy into "it's a Jeep thing" for this issue, especially given the outrageous prices we're paying for these vehicles. If FCA was at least addressing this with a recall or TSB, I'd feel more confident in continuing with my purchase. However, their ongoing lack of support only indicates a glaring absence of customer service and an inability to stand behind their product. I was very much on the fence when I decided to order my JL, and it would have only taken an issue like this to steer clear of FCAs product...wish I had known about it then. Frankly, I don't even care that there is an ongoing corrosion problem, but am far more disappointed in FCA's failure to properly address it. As we all know, there are other options in this market space, and I'd be glad to take my $$$ elsewhere.

@JeepCares, we appreciate your efforts to assist us with this problem, and understand that the lack of support is not your fault. However, we request that you continue advising FCA on our increasing discontent, and the impending loss of customers that is already becoming apparent. I for one, am already planning to abandon my beloved brand, and move on to another manufacturer that actually stands behind its product. So sad it's come to this, but I am clearly not the only one, and am certain that more will follow as this problem persists.
