So, I’m here at the dealership and it seems like this wasn’t shocking news for my rep.
I said I had some paint/corrosion issue and my rep looked right at the hinges.
He will submit me for a new hood, but I am wondering if I should ask for new doors as well, because again, fixing one spot does not guarantee that it won’t appear anywhere else.

And the cherry on top: some asshole stole my ANTENNA this morning... I mean who does that?!
Damn, yea that sucks on the antenna!

nope I think MANY dealers are becoming quite familiar with this issue! Yet round and round we go!

good luck with the dealer. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for tagging us on this thread. We understand how frustrating this must be. We can escalate cases to Jeep Wave Specialists while your vehicles are at the dealer. If you would like additional assistance, please send our team a private message with your VIN and contact information to get started.

LOL. When there is a FIX to this class action lawsuit that is more than likely going to happen let me know..I’ll order when it’s safe to do so. Not looking forward to having the dealership repaint my hood and doors on a brand new wrangler.

I just went over my early 2018 Sahara JLU in Granite Crystal. So far, no issues . I guess one of the few lucky ones. Something I'll have to watch closely.

I have been waiting a month to get my new hood, fenders and doors. The body shop is waiting for warranty to approve the work. My bubbles along my hood are getting worse each day. I am still waiting to see if they will reimburse me for my paint protection and ceramic coating. That is my major concern currently. Could be on the hook for a few grand because of poor production practices..

I don’t mean to be a debbie downer but I would not expect to see any compensation for that. Me, personally would be happy to get new (correctly treated) body parts/elements instead of spot corrections rather than spot corrections and reimbursement for paint protection.

We’ll see how it goes. JeepCares did give me a case number two days after my initial message to them.

They have reimbursed others, this is the 2nd time my car has been repainted.

Oh wow! Awesome!
I also see that different dealers act differently. There are other threads where multiple customers have been rejected by the dealer for the paint repair already.
Fingers crossed

There is no fix when it comes to repainting. Factory paint that comes on the vehicle will never match whatever a dealer is redoing. That’s the part that really sucks. They should repaint the whole Jeep. Sucks all around

My 2018 JLU Sahara is my first Wrangler. When I first went Jeep shopping I ended up with a Renegede based on the price and deal I got on my trade. I complained about that decision for about 3 years before my lovely bride told me to go get a Wrangler and stop complaining.

So here we are 2 1/2 years later faced with my first trip to the dealer to discuss bubbling paint and repairs. Honestly, given the cost of these vehicles and some of the issues that I have already dealt with (UConnect and USB ports, steering, rear window defroster, etc.), I am not up for repainting and body work when from my viewpoint there is no fix on the table. Even more especially when I see some people on here dealing with more than one repaint already - not for me!

This has been my favorite vehicle. I am mid-fifties and have owned many different vehicles and this was by far the one I have enjoyed the most. It was truly difficult to see it in my rear view mirror last night when I left a dealership with a new vehicle (not a Jeep, Dodge, Fiat, Chrysler, or any of the other FCA brands...).

Perhaps one day I will own another Wrangler - but not right now. I wish everyone dealing with this issue good luck on your choices!

As far as Jeep Cares goes - not impressed! Never got my UConnect issues resolved so wasn't going to watch the value of my JLU go down the tubes and listen to a bunch of BS about paint!

Don’t blame you. I too like my Jeep but repaint work always devalues a vehicle. Jeep should not only repaint to correct but also provide loss of value compensation. Most used car appraisers deduct for paint repairs...and they are trained to look for them.

I love this car and I don’t want to sell/trade it.
But I would also lie if I’d say I did not think about it.
Just for the sake of the argument, what did you end up going with?
The only vehicle I’m interested in is the gladiator, but I’m expecting to see the same issues on those too

I would almost guarantee it would be the same issue. Not sure how it can’t be.

2021 Subaru Outback XT Touring. Got a decent trade number so I pulled the trigger.
