So wd40 can pass through the paint? Is this a rust or corrosion problem? Isnt there a difference?
David, I'm not mister GOOGLE ... :giggle: rust is the oxide of iron and its derivatives, corrosion is a climatic or chemical phenomenon for all materials. (for ex: aluminum, copper, bronze, titanium or plastic) is the difference. In the case of the Wrangler it's corrosion (aluminum hinges and doors or hood or tailgate)

My 2018 is starting to bubble on the bottoms of the doors. I actually just noticed a third door is showing the same. I had to go 2 weeks without a vehicle only a few months after taking delivery due to a leaking top (that's still not fixed). I actually bought a used car because I have a laundry list of issues that need to be addressed and can't go a month without a vehicle. My dealer has loaners but it's first come first serve. They won't hold them and told me to call every few minutes to see if one is back. ?

I sent a PM to Jeep Cares on 3/22 and have not heard anything back yet. How long does it usually take to get a response?
So sorry, ellesshoe. I see your message now and will continue working with you there.

Wow this really sucks. I just bought my 18' rubicon a couple weeks ago. Seen this thread and wouldn't you know it. I have 4 hinges doing the same thing at only 34k miles. My first Jeep and I was so excited. Now I'm scared to drive it
Have you visited the dealer yet for this? If so, send our team a private message and we can discuss further.

`I am having the same issue. I noticed it on my hood. I went to local dealer (not the dealer i purchased it from because it is out of state). the guy took pictures and started a claim. a few days later he called and told me it was approved to be repaired at the body shop that the dealership uses. I told them i wanted it repaired at a body shop of my choice. I dont think that I should have to bring my $48,000 jeep that is only 3 years old with 30,000 miles to their shop!!! I want it done from my guy at the shop of my choice. They will not agree to this!!! This is so unfair!!! Something has to happen here!!!!

It feels pretty standard that they would want to use their own shop. Generally when warranty work is done, you don't get to choose who does it.

For anyone who has has the warranty work done.... How long did it last and how did it come out. I gor mine back from paint only 2 months ago i believe and it needs to go back in..... Its like they went to Maaco and just clear coated over the dusty hood and called it a day.

Is there a dealership in CA that specializes in aluminum paint repair? I've dealt with two different dealers for the clutch issues on my Jeep and other simple warranty repairs. They screwed up basic things. Anybody? ?‍♂

Well took my Jeep down to the body shop again to take more pictures of my bubbles because the Analyst at Jeep says they will not approve my hinges for repair “they can’t see the bubbles”. I believe the dealer ship because when I got there the head painter and the service manager for the repair shop
Talking about it in there office the manager said wtf you can see it in the photos that we sent. Anyone want to go for a jamboree in front of Stellaris hq and get the media involved?

Wow, that is absolutely unacceptable. So I should expect my brand new 2021 JL $50k+ 2-door manual transmission vehicle to start rusting out within 2 years or so? Meanwhile I have a truck from 2008 with essentially none of these paint problems 13 years later. I'm looking forward to the class-action lawsuit.

I paid a premium for this vehicle. We all did. This isn't 1978. Rust or corrosion should not be an issue until much, much later into a vehicles lifespan.

it doesnt happen to everyone, and you can google and find this happening to any make and model if you try hard enough. I wouldnt let this take away from the ownership experience until it actually happens to you. of course keep an eye on it if you can

I just checked my 2018 JLRU and all hinges including the hood are showing signs of rust under the paint causing it to bobble up :(.

My first jeep, I didnt listen to people telling me that they rust and are not a quality car, and now this and also the rear defroster cable came loose, I hope the warranty takes care of this, the car has 31,000 miles.
