I got my Jeep back Wednesday. A couple notes:
The paint match is not perfect. The doors and hood are a lighter shade, not by much, but you can see it.
The paint quality is outstanding. They actually resprayed the entire door panels and I lost some scratches.
Thoughts on if I should try to get this paint match fixed or is this acceptable? I wonder if they’d respray my exterior body to match the doors? I thought maybe I could live with it, but it kind of does bother me. What’s your opinions? I guess if they aren’t willing to help me any further, I could always look into a vinyl wrap someday…. (Note, i did take pictures in the most obvious lighting and angles I could get)

I couldn’t live with it. It would bug the crap out of me. I’d either ask for a respray, try for some crazy side graphics that make it unnoticeable, or trade it in.

That’s really unfortunate. That would drive me crazy too.

I’m still not convinced the hinge/door contact is the only source of the problem. I think its also the fact that they have a steel nut attached to the inside of the aluminum door that secure the hinge bolts.
The piece of steel inside the door that receives the nut could corrode the whole door from the inside couldn’t it?

Unfortunately, the corrosion started popping up on my 2018 with 58k. I am getting the run around from Jeep about the TSB stating that it is only for hood corrosion. I have a copy of the TSB and can clearly read that it also applies to hinges. I was told hinges are only covered under the 36k warranty. Has anyone else had this experience? @JeepCares

I'm on the long list to get the doors (all 4) and hinges repaired/replaced. Called the dealership when I had 24k/35 months.
They tried saying that the doors are covered under the 5yr warranty, but I'd be responsible for the hinges since I would be over 36 months before they could get to it...I laughed and told then that's not going to happen... then the manager agreed to cover it all....supposed to get it next month ( has been 6 months waiting).. fingers crossed no issues when it goes in. I've noted all conversations and times/ dates etc....

Add me to the list. i started this process the first week of April. Got a call at the end of June that it was approved and to drop it off July 26th. Dropped it off and still do not have it back. The dealer always says he will call me back and doesn't. i found the body shop they sent it to today who told me late next week I will get my jeep back.
i was also told they had to order 4 new doors since the corrosion was so bad. 35 days without a vehicle and counting.

and yours is a 2019. Mine is a 2018. I notice some slight bumps on the hinges.
I was ready to get a new one so I can get the auto this time, but after reading the horrors of people's troubles with Jeep dealers, I honestly think Hyundai is starting to look good.

Just wanted to give my update - I received my Wrangler back from the repair shop finally on Friday 8/26 - they had it in the shop for 31 calendar days - July 25th through August 26th (5 business weeks).

Overall, the color match is pretty good, not perfect. The issue i have with my repair is where they decided to mask off the new vs old paint - there is a raised edge that's noticeable to the touch. They masked off and didn't paint the door sills/wells, which have bare spots from the other "door rubbing" issue. Also, in more than one spot there is some dust/debris in the finish - not terrible, but noticeable.

My main issue with the repair is that Jeep considers the warranty exhausted following repair and provides no warranty on the repair itself.

At this point, I'm thinking that without any guarantee on the repair, I have to cut my losses and sell the Jeep. Take the depreciation on the chin and look for something new. Super hesitant to jump back into another (would be my fourth) wrangler, without knowing that the issue has been fixed at the factory.

That’s unfortunate. I don’t get how many are ok with spending $40k and up and not caring about these problems. I’m with you.
they’ll only continue to pop up warranty repaired or not.
Keep lurking on the threads to stay updated. If and and when the problem is resolved.

This is unacceptable. The bodywork should be comparable to a factory job at a minimum. You can probably work that masking line out, but then you have the bare spots. Did they refuse to make it right? If so, gather your documentation, take pictures and file a claim in small claims court. At lease you'll be able to make up the lost value.

i haven't addressed it with the dealership yet - i will be sending them detailed information once i have the opportunity to compile. I'd be surprised if they don't react positively, however, more of my concern is the repairs will take the jeep out of service again - but it is what it is at this point.

I don’t know anything about body work but I’ve always been impressed when I’ve had cars fixed. The local shop I’ve used matched things perfectly. Again, I’m no expert but I am super OCD over these kind of things.
I hope they work with you to fix it.

There's no way they should get away with doing a poor repair. Years ago, I had a Ford Explorer with a warrantied paint issue and it ended up going back three times to fix the dealer's shoddy job. They certainly pushed back after the first followup but I pressed the issue since their repair should return the vehicle to factory condition.
