Finally picked mine up. 6 weeks in the bodyshop total. All hinges and doors replaced. Hood and tailgate too. Hinge bolts repainted. Proper prep work dine underneath hinges. Satisfied with their work. Perfect paint match
about to pick up my JL after 1.5 weeks.

my biggest fear is they wonā€™t paint match the white. Will update with pics, in any event ill need my car back. And if it doesnā€™t match, Iā€™ll log a complaint

Check the harness/plug at kick panel. Probably had door off and plug isn't seated and computer thinks doors are off?

Confirmed

This is fixed now.

They bent like 4 pins. I had to use a flathead to bend it back straight.

If this was something major, I would be really displeased. Although this isn't Jeeps fault, it was the bodyshop who took the doors off.

Still, i would think Jeep come up with something that wouldn't cause bent pins.

U can tell there's some sort of darker primer or sealant between the hinges and the doors now. Also applied clear 3m film on the front of the hinges where rock chips occur. Well worth it

I just bought clear 3m film from Amazon. 6 inches by 12 inches. Then lots of cutting involved to get perfect paper templates. Then used the templates to cut the film then applied.

So is the paint supposed to bridge the gap or not?

Nope. Looks like a definite repaint job.

There should typically be no bridging. Key for us was if the final paint work looked OEM or better. If it looked like it was repainted and was not up to typical industry standards - then back it went. In the end we got work that was way better than OEM with a lifetime corrosion warranty by an independent body shop to boot.

So maybe bring to some other paint shops and ask their opinion if that looks ok - and if not - can they fix it. Then go back and talk to the shop that did that and listen closely to what they have to say. We did that and ended up with a proper professional paint job. PITA but was worth it.

Neg is that the work may come back worse. So you have to read closely between the lines of what they tell you and make a proper determination. Since we had use of their courtesy car for a month - we were ok with that. Even racked up a couple thousand test miles. Haha!

Shop owner was apologetic and promised to make it good. And he actually did. Paint manager however was an unapologetic idiot as he was in charge of QC. Skipped and bypassed him after that and everything worked out fine.
