you should definitely make 20 of them and keep the spares in the center console.

How about some pictures.
Will do. Tomorrow when I get a chance.

I feel like the webbing material I bought is thicker and stronger than what Bestop is using, but then again the Bestop straps are older and have been exposed to sun, so they may have been the same when they were new. So we'll see how the new ones hold up over time.

The snaps fit perfectly, as they should. But you never know with Chinese parts sometimes.

I made 1 spare but won't really need more until these age out. I'm keeping the spare and materials in my Jeep hardware door of my tool cabinet.

Lol, laughing in Canadian. Let me introduce you to "brokerage fees". Not sure how shipping is Bestops problem. Lol. Your rant should be with whomever is doing the shipping.
Huh? He was interacting with Bestop directly. Their shipping is typically included ("free"), but not for little things like this.

Ok, so I get the OP's reason for posting this. We've all been there. I paid the 15 bucks for a 4 dollar part to be shipped via UPS. When my part arrived, it was shipped USPS for 2 bucks and change. Which means, it cost 12 bucks and change for someone to stick a small part in a small box, add nothing to protect the small part from shipping damage, place one piece of tape to the box to secure it. And affix a label. But, in the end, I had the part I needed, from the original company who made the part. Most times people do this cause they want the original company part. The alternative, shop around. Most instances, companies use additional distributors. And believe it or not, some of those distributors, to get your business, will skip shipping charges. Be frugal, be smart. Always shop around. It's called "competitive shopping".

Read it again. I offered them a simple solution that they declined to do. So my rant was with them.

So I created my own solution for less than the price of just the parts, before shipping. That's a win, so the rant is over.

Bestop didn't bend to your will, so you called them out in social media, in a forum which they presumably support, and where they have many satisfied customers? All this over $15? Really?

I personally would have just gone that route and left the social media aspect out.

Yep. But I think I was pretty nice to them. Apparently you struggle with reading comprehension, or you didn't read it all, if you took it as negative in its totality.

I like the company. I love their products. My complaint was over something very specific that involved thinking a very tiny bit outside the box. They were unwilling and inflexible. So I ding them on that. Then solved the problem myself.

I run an organization with possibly as many or more employees as them. They are empowered to make decisions outside the box to better serve our constituents. The benefits of that go very far. Go and enroll in a good MBA program and pay close attention to the case studies of corporations that are flexible and empower leaders vs. those who are rigid. It's far too much to put in here, but it was a simple observation of a practice that is common, normal, and understandable, but it separates the mediocre from the great.

Exactly. As if they're gonna just chuck them in an envelope. That crazy to ask that of a large company.
They are not large. But some much larger companies are much more flexible and dynamic and empowering of their employees than small ones. Some shockingly more so.

And for the record....I LOVE @Bestop This is an irritant. Not a rejection of them. They have phenomenal products. I also never did a typical internet rant where I refuse to purchase from them again. That's absolutely not the case. I just, in fact, purchased a retractable sun shade for my sunrider for hard top. It is a brilliant product.

Here's one more complaint that some bozos around here will take the wrong way....I hate that they discontinued the stubby front winch bumper my brother had on his JT. It was one of the best bumper's I've seen and I would buy one right now for my truck, if they still made it. They probably were not selling well, or maybe they were too expensive to make sufficient profit margin and be competitive. So I understand. I just wish they'd make one more of them....for me! Lol.

Btw, the last time I needed small parts for a Bestop product, which was a few years ago, they sent them to me for free. On a JK forum, I praised the heck out of them for that. Those days are gone, and I don't expect that kind of thing with today's economy. However, I also don't expect $15 shipping on a product that weighs a few ounces and fits in a standard envelope, either.

Win some, lose some. I call it as I see it. Nobody is forced to agree. And I respect those that don't.

The parts or Bestop? Cause you could be very wrong depending on which one the "not large" belongs to lol

Yeah, I get it. They said no, so that's when it's time to shut your purse and move on. They didn't owe you to send it special for you. If you supposedly "run" an organization as big as bestop and think "this" was the answer, well, I find that pretty hard to believe.

Here's a pic. I actually made 5 of them and one of the originals is still functional, but pretty worn, so I suspect it would break soon. I discarded it. I made this one 12" long, for reference. That's close to the length of the original, maybe slightly longer.

I'd love to show you how it is done. But I don't think you'd understand.
