I don’t know the answer on your aux battery. My guess is that smart people on this board know more, and likely more than your dealer. My further guess is that what the dealer told you is BS.

You might consider writing to Jeep and ask them. Tell them the name of the dealership and the person at the dealership who told you this. Then, ask Jeep if it’s true That the aux battery doesn’t charge when the ESS button is turned off. See what the Jeep engineers say.

assuming that they contradict the dealer, you could then forward the note to the Service advisor And then FIND A DIFFERENT DEALER.

I’m glad the auxiliary battery not being charged without ESS is false. I’ve been delighted to see the last few weeks ā€œservice ESSā€ when starting. I don’t have to remember to hit the button. I plan to never have it fixed unless it causes another problem.
What do you think ESS is? It says service ESS because something is wrong with your Jeep and it is 100% guaranteed to be an issue at some point. You should get it fixed.
