Calling BS on the reason for the side vent

I'd like mine painted to match the body, but I'm likely to pick black as an exterior color, so it probably doesn't bother me that much.

Yeah it looks fine on dark colored Jeeps bit too loud in lighter body colors. I hope to see a brushed metal or similar colored aftermarket option.

I think it's similar to the former side vents on both the YJ and TJ hardtops.

I buy it.... and this is based on the fact that we have had ZERO hood flutter with the factory rubber latches ever since we installed PSC louvers.

I bet there are flow/flutter issues in the engine bay similar to the flutter you get when only opening the rear windows. By adding the vent, you get smooth flow through, which will improve cooling at speed as well.

Cooling is not an issue at speed unless maybe you're towing a massive trailer up a hill or across the dessert... which does fit some people's scenarios but:

1. A vent can be hidden from sight.

2. There are vents which are holes for air to go through and there's what's on the JL which is a total race car inspired design feature. Makes the JL's side look more lambo like than the Lambo Uranus that was just released. Light colored JKs will take a visual hit because of this.

If I add a soap dispenser on the inside of the vent’s mesh, will the flow through back pressure relief be enough to blow bubbles as I drive along?

I can only imagine how that might brighten up the commute to and from work and give other drivers the same sense of glee I feel inside my Wrangler.

This discussion reminded me of a conversation with one of the most knowledgeable aerodynamicists I've met. He said that an unstable air flow, a.k.a. "buffeting", as in the air flow inside a vehicle under the right conditions, is very difficult analyze and predict. I recall he said that the aerodynamic drag is very high when buffeting occurs. So, I would think it's entirely possible they "fixed" the hood buffeting by a big change to the air flow thru the engine compartment, much like we all "fix" the buffeting in our vehicles by adjusting various window openings. Just trying shit. Or as engineers like to call it: "test and development".

I can’t speak to the functionality of the vents because I don’t own a wind tunnel but they do address a major design problem of the JK:
