  1. Rear window defroster unsoldered?

On my JK, I knocked off the connector too. I used the defroster repair kit purchased online. Like above, a conducting epoxy. Worked great since then. When it was setting up, I used painters tape to help hold it in place. I never removed the tape after. I think it helped from me catching things...
  2. How many oncoming drivers getting ticked with the JL LED headlights

I do this - except I drive on the shoulder of the opposing side of the road. No enter sandman though - I play Rock the Casbah by the Clash instead. If I get stopped by the cops - I'll say it's the crazy Australian music that made me do it.
  3. Best insurance company?

Crazy part is that such a few percent of people actually shop yearly for insurance. I think it's less than 10% of drivers actually change. Yet we get how many commercials for car insurance blasted at us daily?
  4. Jeep Wrangler Sales Figure Increases 23% For June 2018

I guess the current JK to JL proportions on the road are why they seem hard to see. How many JKs were sold? 2 million? I'm sure given the same production time, the JL will exceed that.
  5. How long does it take to actually build the Jeep JL on the assembly line?

It's call a 'just in time' process. You can eliminate delays and storage of parts if done right. The 3rd party parts arrive just in time to be bolted to the rig. I think all car companies do this now. This is a good thread of info. Thanks.
  6. Jeep Wrangler Sales Figure Increases 23% For June 2018

The Avenger sale (not sales). Was it hidden in the back of the factory? I mean zero last year. I'd expect a taper down. Maybe ones that were left on the sales floor? Seems like a waste to have it on the floor still though. I picture a guy walking through the old Avenger factory and moving a...
  7. Jeep Wrangler Sales Figure Increases 23% For June 2018

I drive a lot. I really don't see many JLs. One every few days maybe - which is not a lot living in Philadelphia. I googled the sales numbers and saw all this Wrangler sales records stuff. Here I was thinking the JL has been a bust. Maybe not. Or maybe just the JKs selling so well still.
  8. Locking storage when roofless

I recall my first time I locked the factory center console in my YJ and going to class in Philly. Ahh, the memories of your first stolen CDs - something kids today will never enjoy... Best part is that any Jeep key unlocked the glovebox for the YJ.
  9. Locking storage when roofless

I think too if you unlock the doors (windows down) from the inside - after you lock them with the remote - then open them, the horn starts honking.
  10. Broke the lockers on test drive.

Lockers have a 19 mile warranty for a reason.
  11. How long does it take to actually build the Jeep JL on the assembly line?

Gary was just called in by the Mets for their Todd Fraizer signing presser the other day.
  12. Jeep Newbie - need advice on JL purchase

Easier to sleep in a 4D than a 2D. Welcome to the club.
  13. First JL OIL CHANGE.... , COMPLETED W/ DIY INSTRUCTIONS AND PICS

Oil threads do stink on ice... I echo your feeling. ha ha I use the Valvoline synthetic from Walmart anymore. It's under $22 for a 5 qt jug now. The Pentistar is fantastic for oil change ease for sure. My wife has a Subaru now. Other than it's lower, the ease of change for that is slightly...
  14. The new JL Rubicon, the ultimate mall crawler?!?

Taking a $55k truck off road is a big risk (warranty won't include off road damages). Especially for those that never did it before. At the same time running a Rubi on road until it's paid off then taking it off road is also a big risk. 5-6 years old parts and maybe 70-100,000 miles on...
  15. First JL OIL CHANGE.... , COMPLETED W/ DIY INSTRUCTIONS AND PICS

With all due respect - it's your Jeep. Do what you want. The folks that designed the engine write the specs for maintenance. At the same time they have that nifty oil life monitor that runs a conservative schedule for changing the oil. Mileage isn't a hard on an engine as other factors that are...
  16. First JL OIL CHANGE.... , COMPLETED W/ DIY INSTRUCTIONS AND PICS

Jesus, why? Also Mobil 1 does not have Chrysler's MS-6395 requirements. Why, I don't know. Will it hurt your engine, probably not. Will they hoo-doo you when you have a warranty claim & they know you used an oil without the MS-6395 certification, probably so.
  17. The new JL Rubicon, the ultimate mall crawler?!?

Corvette is one thing. Buying the track ready Z06 and driving your kids to school in it only is about the same as the life majority of Rubicons sold. 99.9% of people who don't own a Wrangler assume the Rubicon is the nicest version sold. The functionality of it is irreverent. "What's a locker?"
  18. What do you use to take your Jeep hard top off

Having both a YJ and JK - the YJ hardtop is much more difficult to move. The JK Unlimited top is pretty easy. The JL is supposed to be lighter too. The center of gravity of the tops is usually a few inches in from the back glass. The glass is the heaviest part, so the quarter glass and the rear...
  19. What do you use to take your Jeep hard top off

I use my arms. Guess I'm odd. I built one of those dollies out of 2x4 and casters to store it in the garage. These are like $30 to build. The casters were the biggest item to buy. You can download plans for free online.
  20. Hello From JeepCares

I have never used the mechanical key to open a door since the remote lock button came out. Want to hang your keys from the steering column still? Get a 3M hook.
