I'm really curious about this system and exactly what it will be... Jeep (FCA) has been doing a lot of cool things with "full time 4WD" systems lately. Confusingly, they have LOTS of names for all these systems as well. Because the JL is still solid axles front and rear, I would expect something...
Other vehicles that have this have had some trouble when trail riding. We have a KL Cherokee and while we don't have it, a few that we trail ride with do. I have seen more than one occasion where the vehicle perceived a collision and slammed on the brakes were what was really needed was...
As @Billy mentioned and then @Dirt32 clarified a bit... The only issue is heat and wear. In higher transmission gears the the output side of the transfer case is spinning pretty quickly (you can hear it whine). This of course is assuming you changed gears to go faster and are not at idle.
LOL...
The OP was asking about the manual transmission and that is what we have. I have no intention of ever owning an automatic anything as long as there is a manual option.
I suppose that's a better way to go... but most of the time we either just move slower or if it's short run in 4th or 5th. 1st gear high range seems to fall somewhere between 5th and 6th low range for us.
In truth, it's a bit of a PITA to switch in and out of low range all the time. Especially...
I actually worry about the other side of this which is trail speed. Our JKU-R is already one of the slowest vehicles on the trail with most of our wheeling groups due to the 4:1 t-case. When you are in between obstacles I find we end up trying to decide if we should drop 4LO as the pack leaves...
We have a JKU-R and had a JK but sold it for a KL Cherokee Trailhawk. It employs voodoo and snake oil when on the trial, but if you can get a tire on it you are going over it... It's actually pretty amazing.
Sadly, we are looking at either a JL or JT to replace it as it's economy is no better...
This is absolutely correct. Warranty can not be denied or refused unless the failure is proven to be the cause of the failure. Note: A hypothesis or theory isn't good enough, they actually have to prove it.... At least per the law.
Unfortunately, FCA and most dealers have MUCH deeper pockets...
