Yep. But I think I was pretty nice to them. Apparently you struggle with reading comprehension, or you didn't read it all, if you took it as negative in its totality.

I like the company. I love their products. My complaint was over something very specific that involved thinking a very tiny bit outside the box. They were unwilling and inflexible. So I ding them on that. Then solved the problem myself.

I run an organization with possibly as many or more employees as them. They are empowered to make decisions outside the box to better serve our constituents. The benefits of that go very far. Go and enroll in a good MBA program and pay close attention to the case studies of corporations that are flexible and empower leaders vs. those who are rigid. It's far too much to put in here, but it was a simple observation of a practice that is common, normal, and understandable, but it separates the mediocre from the great.

They are not large. But some much larger companies are much more flexible and dynamic and empowering of their employees than small ones. Some shockingly more so.

And for the record....I LOVE @Bestop This is an irritant. Not a rejection of them. They have phenomenal products. I also never did a typical internet rant where I refuse to purchase from them again. That's absolutely not the case. I just, in fact, purchased a retractable sun shade for my sunrider for hard top. It is a brilliant product.

Here's one more complaint that some bozos around here will take the wrong way....I hate that they discontinued the stubby front winch bumper my brother had on his JT. It was one of the best bumper's I've seen and I would buy one right now for my truck, if they still made it. They probably were not selling well, or maybe they were too expensive to make sufficient profit margin and be competitive. So I understand. I just wish they'd make one more of them....for me! Lol.

Btw, the last time I needed small parts for a Bestop product, which was a few years ago, they sent them to me for free. On a JK forum, I praised the heck out of them for that. Those days are gone, and I don't expect that kind of thing with today's economy. However, I also don't expect $15 shipping on a product that weighs a few ounces and fits in a standard envelope, either.

Win some, lose some. I call it as I see it. Nobody is forced to agree. And I respect those that don't.
If you truly “run” a large organization, I’m shocked. I know no leaders of large organizations who would have time to deal with something this petty. Or wait, do you go by Warren Buffett by chance??

If you run an organization with (estimate of Bestop's numbers) 100 to 500 employees then how many minutes of your time is that $15 worth? I'd be shocked if you didn't spend significantly more than that $15 when you add your time into the equation.

Study business and you'll see there is a school of thought that views this very differently. One case, sure. But it is a philosophy of serving the customer, not squeezing every penny. You make more pennies when customers perceive that you went above and beyond. That adds up, big time, in the long run.

But most companies don't get that. But the few that do are generally envied in their industries, not just for their profitability.

These are hard concepts for some to understand. And it is not required for a company to be successful. But as I said, it can separate the good from the great.

If I had time, I would share a story about a somewhat similar situation involving Roger Penske and why he had so much success working with HUGE corporations, from Exxon Mobil to SOPUS, to Chevrolet, and others. Unfortunately, that's for another day, another thread, and requires lots of time. Roger Penske, btw, would absolutely understand what I'm talking about.

But I digress. I'm happy now and found a solution that will hopefully help a few others and save them a few bucks.

You are welcome!

Garmin replaced my 4 year old watch when it broke, YEARS out of warranty. My z clip broke on my Sunrider I bought used (3 months after the Sunrider was released) so it was well within warranty but since I purchased it second hand they wouldn't do anything besides I think it was a 5-10% discount on buying a new one. I still use my broken Sunrider to this day but tell that story to anyone who asks about it. I understand it's their policy but was just surprised.

I'd love to show you how it is done. But I don't think you'd understand.
At least you're not being condescending.

Edit: I removed a slightly derogatory term in a feeble attempt to keep from being banned.

You keep repeating yourself. How do you know others haven’t studied business? I have. And the amount of time and energy you spent on this endeavor has far exceeded $15, if you truly do run a large scale business. I’m starting to think it’s a bee farm. Bees work hard. Think outside the box. Efficient producers. I’ve seent it and studied it in business school!

When you’re awestruck by your own awesomeness, being condescending is just a fact of life.
Thanks for acknowledging my awesomeness and condescending nature, but I was actually talking about the OP. ;)

So I created my own solution for less than the price of just the parts, before shipping. That's a win, so the rant is over.
FWIW, did you factor in your time to the cost? That counts too ...
