My reality is, I have aux. power needs and added eight additions fuses. With power needs for a winch, gmrs, cb, driving lights, twin ARB compressors. I am thinking of going to Genesis dual battery system and wondering if I can fit it in, Haha.

You can clean all of that up with the Genesis system, the aux battery has both + & - bus bars to connect to for all you aux needs, I have winch and compressor feeds coming off the aux and then I have some portable lights that I can clamp on to the aux if needed when needed.

I second that the genesis will fit-I have all that crap on dual odysseys-some stuff like arb and lights are on main w aux-radios wench others on the aux.

might have todo a minor rework of bus but if u wired it-it will be simple.

I made this mess and might have to relocate the aux. fuse panel a tad. The Genesis kit will have to be on hand cause it looks pretty close to fitting. Something I will be looking into this year. I have the n1-n2 jumper and a battery jumper pack and jumper cables in the rig at all times.

I ran with the jumper on N1 to N2 with the ESS negative disconnected for a month so and had zero issues but I have ESS disabled with a SSS module and just never liked the ESS battery location and the possible issues it would have generated as I did not have the TSB applied for the battery ( this fix was made permanent past 2018’s) anyway as my concerns and needs grew I wanted a more stable system so opted for the dual Genesis, is the system perfect ..NO ITS NOT but it’s alot better than the stock system for my needs as I want the extra power available to run auxiliary equipment and don’t want to tax the main battery plus as you well know the Genesis has the boost ability which I have tested several times and also used once and the one time I needed it to boost me it was there and worked like a charm, just think built in jump pack without the hassle.

Talk about longevity I just replaced the original battery (getting weak) in my 2013 mb C-250 sport. It lasted over 8 years. It was called a (VARGA). Wanted to replace with same battery but couldn’t find it. Must be a German brand for own in Germany.
They should rename the company Viagra.

Very little out there in regard to an Aux battery replacement..

IF I were to replace the Aux on my JL today, I would go with the DieHard Platinum AGM Battery, BCI Group Size 400, 200 CCA Part # AUX14-1 .

There are a handful of others out there but this Diehard offering seems to be the pick of the litter right now.... that's not saying much though..

No, no Odyssey or Northstar replacement for the Aux that I am aware of..

As for the life span of the stock batteries(2), it is a real crap shoot. A game that I will not play..

I considered myself very lucky to have gotten 3 yrs out of the Main battery before I opted to change it before it had issues / before it died and left me stranded somewhere (I interstate travel lots) .... so, I replaced the Main with a Northstar.

As you and many other's here know, I do not use/run with the Aux battery so my stock Aux just sits in it's cradle... sits doing nothing, acting as a backup if I were to ever need it. I do maintain it with a battery maintainer..

For those that have not seen my dual battery set-up ..... the set-up that has me running with just the Main, you can read more / see, etc. here... https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/ess-dual-battery-management.60034/post-1340536 .

NO, my setup, is not one of those pricey $2000+ aftermarket affairs... I am not foolish enough to go that route/spend that kind of $ with my type of vehicle usage..

Here is a pic of my set-up..

.
Have you looked at using a diode pack on the aux battery so it will get a charge driving, but won't discharge when starting? I've had bad experiences with battery maintainers flipping out and cooking my battery.

I intend to replace the big battery with a Northstar (Batteries Plus XG2 Premium made by Northstar, but with a better warranty). Pretty sure they have a suitable replacement.
@DanW, I think this is the one: https://www.batteriesplus.com/produ.../jeep/wrangler/2018/v6-3.6l-650cca/sli48agmdp

It matches the one spec'd by @Rhinebeck01: https://www.northstarbattery.com/product/nsb-agm48-l3

My main is no longer holding a charge. I have AUX bypassed, and minutes after taking my main off the tender it will drop to 12.4 and then 12.2. I have a Batteries Plus store 15 minutes away and they have the X2 in stock. I think I will run over there, today.

Edit: Hell, that was easy and I found a 10% coupon code. They'll even put it in for me and take the old one to avoid a core charge. Sweet!

Good you have purchased a new Main...

Decent price you paid..... I paid $269.67 for my Northstar NSB-AGM 48 Battery (Main Battery) and shipping to me was free. They did not ask for /get my old Main.

So, I have the stock Main battery from my JL, in my shed if anyone wants it... for free... It still tests good.. 8-)

I'm just back from the Batteries Plus store and have the new Northstar installed. (I pretty much had to do the install, as the girl helping me was like 5' nothing and no way she could have lifted those heavy batteries to the height of a Rubicon engine bay! I was just happy to avoid a core charge followed by a return trip to collect it back.) They gave me an envelope with the 5yr warranty to keep in the glove box, and I've now got it plugged in to my tender to bring it up to a full charge.

I've never shopped there, before; it's neat. They have a little bit of everything power related. Most of the auto batteries on their shelves are Duracell, but they have a good number of Northstar batteries, too.

Thanks for the tip on Batteries Plus, @DanW, and for the research into the best replacement brand, @Rhinebeck01

No problem! They are great! And that's a kick ass battery with a fantastic warranty, too!

You & @DanW have motivated me. I'm approaching 3 years on the stock battery & all these B-words had me skittish... batteries this, bypass that.... so I went ahead & ordered a replacement from BP. $280 well spent. Thanks for the inspiration.....

My Odyssey is sitting in the garage on the bench waiting for the Die Hard aux battery. It should arrive Monday or Tuesday, then I'll get to the big swap.

I think you'll like whichever you get, the Northstar or Odyssey. Either way you get that nice 5 year warranty. It should easily go beyond 5 years.

I've got my extra fuse set, my parts to make the bypass, and I'm scheduled to get the TSB on Friday. But I feel like the TSB will negate the need for the N1-N2 bypass. I'll still be ready. Then I'll be cruising worry free!

Quick question for the experts. Any reason to keep the nice soft battery cover? Does it serve a purpose, or should I ditch it?

I went with the Northstar... I also like the 5-year warranty. I had the TSB done a couple weeks ago, so the bypass won't be necessary. I'll still keep a jumper at the ready.

I may deep-six the cover like I did the engine horseshoe-looking cover thingy. It's only holding the cables with Velcro for my battery maintainer eyelets. And it's not my color. ;)
