I had to paint the can and Pipe. 10 Minutes, steel wool whipe and spray with High Heat matte Rusto...

This is soooo easy. Nobody should have a silver can.

I’m gonna have to do this it looks really good. I’m still holding out hope that someone will come out with a light to go into the reflector spot.

Finally got around to installing my rear lights. Very happy with them.

What brand and model are those lights? They are nice and compact; if they give off enough light, they might be a good solution.

Just wanted to share that I installed a Rigid Scene Light (1100 lumens) on the underside of the hitch and wired it following the double diode idea to Aux 3 and the hitch plug wire for back up lights. It works great, puts out a ton of light and is very discreet. I also really liked that I didn't need two of them and could center mount the single. Happy to answer more questions about it.

I am following this thread with interest, because I’d like to add more reverse light power, but one thing puzzles me here. Not trying to single you out, but this is one of many examples on this thread of mounting locations where it would seem to be easy to rip the lights off on the trail. Dragging the back bumper area as you come down off a ledge is one of the most common scenarios - seems to happen at least once every outing. Why does it seem like no one is worried about this? So far the only mounting location that would appear to be off-road proof is the inside-the-reflector mod. What am I missing?

They plug right in to the 7 pin outlet so no need to wire anything. They just work. It is removable, of course, so it is easy to take off before hitting a muddy, deep trail. At 4300lm, they'll be plenty bright and are easily adjustable. I'm thinking for $160, it is worth adding on

It’s great to have the extra back up illumination on the trail, and that kit doesn’t look like it could stand up to much abuse?

No updates yet, still deciding on direction. Have a few options I am looking at:

• Drill out center to install the rigid backup lights and be flush, the issue is there is a mounting tab that needs to be cut to have the light centered
• Drill out the back of the light and leave the red reflector, mount rigid backup lights behind the reflector
• 3D scan the reflector, then 3D print a replacement with mounting for the rigid backup lights.

Also deciding on one or two lights, the issue I am having is that I see that all photos so far have hot spots/ glare. I am looking for something that does not produce glare.

Did you ever 3D scan the reflector?

Careful of splicing into the factory harness. A friend has the LEDs and had a warranty problem. He did not have the factory tow package and added a hitch. He had a hitch installed and the company that did it spliced into the factory back up light wires. He had no problems for 6 months. After that one of his rear LED tail lights went out so he took it to the dealer assuming it was a simple warranty claim. The dealer told him the rear LED was not covered under the warranty because the wiring harness was spliced into. I think the rear LED cost him over $400.

I found this plug and play kit for anyone wanting to add a tow wiring kit. It includes everything. The "T" connectors are nice. You just unplug your factory rear lights and plug the "T" connectors in between the tail light and factory harness. No splicing into the factory harness. You can just tap into one of the back-up wires for extra back up lights. It also includes a control module with diodes. It can be unplugged and removed easily without any damage to any factory wires.

I have not, have not found a place that doesn’t want to charge $400+ to scan them

I just installed this wiring kit a few weeks ago and can confirm that it works seamlessly!!! The Install was very straight forward. Hardest part was running power from the battery which I snaked thru the frame cause I wanted it out of the way and protected from the elements.

My thoughts on this backup light is that there needs to be some room above for the plate light and it would probably be best used on the instances whee the license plate has been located up to the spare tire.
