Backup Lights

I am installing them in the steel bumpers. I haven’t had a chance to install them yet so I don’t have any feedback yet on the product.

BEFORE you attempt to do the install.... contact Oracle by phone and ascertain/figure out, if indeed you received the reworked/retooled Oracle offering from Quadratec... Especially, since you are going to install on a steel bumper..

You may have old stock.... actually, you probably do.... not good...

Oracle should have a way to check... to ask you ? about the markings on the article you have, so you/they know for sure it is the retooled offering. IF not ........... get an exchange.....

Be well aware of Oracle's return policy before you do the install!

Thanks for the tips. I've read the thread a few times I just wasn't quite sure as I'm not an electrical person I prefer to research allot and double check everything, hence the specific post. My brain doesn't always seem to work as everyone else's so I'm a bit cautious with a vehicle we plan to keep for retirement. As far as grounds I plan to use self tapping screws into the tow cross member as suggested (I'll solder/crimp the ground wires together and then solder/crimp a ring onto the ground wires that I'll attach to the screw).

They work with the Aux switch, but I'll have to wait until the wife is home to test the reverse, but overall I think it's good. Here's how the finished product looks:

Go to AutoZone, etc. and get a pack of Dorman - Conduct-Tite Blue 16-14 Gauge T-Tap Terminals..

You will be tapping into the b/u wire which is the white wire with orange trace.

Carefully cut the black harness wrapping and peel that wrap back say 2-3 inches so you can get to the wires in that bundle.

Carefully and gently separate out a bit the white wire with the orange trace.. Separate out just enough so you can get the T Tap on that wire.

After you do the connect and BEFORE you tape things up, do check to be sure your back-up lights work... Don't tape up and then find you did not make a good connection, etc..

CAREFUL, Do NOT, bend that T-Tap down thinking it will be easier to tape up. Leave the Tap in the T position that resulted after you did the connection.. You bend down that T'd connection and you chance/risk breaking that white wire with the orange trace. Anyway, leave it T'd and tape all up.

Posi-Tap Blue Inline Wire Connectors 14,16, GA, AWG, Electrical Fastener's are my favorites to use but can be hard to find locally... IF you have time to order online / can find and wait for delivery, do go with those... They are a tad pricey...

For that use a self tapping screw.

You place a ring connector on the end of the ground wire and then use a self tapping screw to secure the ground wire's ring connector to the square tow rail that is right by the 7 pin connector.

Looking to swap out the reflectors right below the license plate on the bumper and replace them with some type of a strong backup light as currently backing up my driveway as nearly impossible at night time.

I do have the trailer towing group.

Any and all suggestion on which lights to go with would be greatly appreciated.

Not at all mechanically inclined here is it something the dealership can easily do?

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. So they do work as they should.

Turns out the Jeep only stays in reverse when someone is in the driver's seat. The LED reverse lights are really weak, so I thought I'd check to see if they were working. I put the Jeep in Reverse, engaged the Parking Brake, and got out to see if they were on. As soon as my biscuits left the seat, the car put itself in Auto Park, which disengages Reverse entirely (hence, turning off the reverse lights). I'm still used to my Pathfinder which has super bright reverse lights.

Have a friend or family member stand in a safe spot behind your vehicle and they can tell you when the reverse lights come on compared to the shifter and vehicle motion. I'll have to check this out on mine now that I read this.

If you like drilling holes and a non-factory look. Otherwise it's Oracle or a know-off from Amazon.
