Diode question.

I see many are running 2 diodes when powering from aux and trailer harness to prevent backfeed. Am I not thinking of something to instead use a single diode that has 2 inputs.

https://www.etrailer.com/Accessorie...8pQUXLbLuBRIi6HkhwJyzwpwMBSYF7ZQaAh9jEALw_wcB

Thinking to have Aux and input from 7 pin harness be my inputs and out to the light. I don't believe the 2 lines shared as IN can send power to one another so should save me from turning on aux and feeding into reverse light.

Or am I missing something?

Ordering parts for my install so set me straight if needed everyone. Thanks
Yes! I used the dual input diode you linked instead of two separate diodes. Worked great and much easier and cleaner install...didn't make sense to me to use two.

Thanks. Figured but wanted confirmation.

@Luco

Ok, all done... the diodes (2) are wired in. Works well. Thanks for your input and for motivating me, Luke!
anyone know local stores that may carry diodes? Installing an AAL tailgate table with a light. I hope this will fix the flickering. I tapped into a hotline likely going to the lock. I know this isn’t about tailgate tables but those on this thread know wiring.

Try an RV shop. Most vehicles require diodes for wiring in the tail lights of vehicles being towed.

For everyone who has it wired to a switch in the front cabin. Where are you running the wires to the light In the rear?

Through the frame on the passenger side.

You ran it through the frame all the way from the front of the vehicle?
Yes, dropped straight down from the fuse box area.

Took me about 2 hours, but i really took my time. I ran all of the wires down the drivers side and just tucked it in the trim all the way to the taillight then down into the frame. Decided to go with a switch for now. I may tie in later with the reverse lights not sure yet. This is was the ZRoadz kit.

I like this look also. Did you drill into a steel bumper?
Using the same Buyers LEDs (1260 Lumens/each) on my 19 JLUR, I just need to tap them into my Reverse light wiring, but I think they mounted quite nice with my after market hitch. Basically just using the bolts and some washer and nuts to keep them attached. Very tight fit and no wiggle or concern they would come loose.

update. 3/30/2020

After studying it a bit more you can indeed use the e-trailer Curt hitch wiring harness to tap into the reverse wire so as to power the backup LEDs when the Jeep goes into reverse. The best part is you don’t have to tap into the vehicle reverse light instead use the harness wires. It’s been said to do this before but I couldn’t get an answer as to which wire. Basically I saw the white/orange stripe wire from the vehicle and it goes into the second pin on the Curt harness and on the output there’s a wire out. I tested it with a Multimeter and sure enough no voltage when the cars on but when the cars in reverse it powered up. I then used a T-tap off the harness wire which goes to one power wire for both LEDs on the hitch. The ground wires from the LEDs were spliced together and tapped into the 4-pin hitch ground so as not to have to run a second wire up into the Taillight. I’m attaching pics of the harness wire to use should anyone else need it.

Quick question. Wiring two Buyers Product surface mount LEDs on my hitch frame and I already have a 4-way flat pole hitch wiring hooked up. This kit from e-trailer (https://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-Vehicle-Wiring/Curt/C56407.html).

I’m wanting to just tap into the hitch wiring to make it easy but... my understanding is that on my hitch wiring the white wire is the ground and my brown wire is the “tail lights” which would mean the led lights would always be illuminated. Looks like this probably will not be an option or has anyone had success?

Option 2 would be just ground the wire to the 4-pin switch and then run a separate power wire to the Driver side Tail light but which wire color is the reverse light wire?
White wire with the orange trace is the reverse light wire.

I ran my wire through the frame today. At first I tried to “push” the wire through from port to port. That worked until I got to the upward bend in the rear of the frame of my JLUR, then it seemed to get obstructed and the hole is pretty small, making it difficult to work. Finally pulled out my fish tape and was able to push that from the back through the frame bend. Bottom line, you’ll probably need a fish tape to route the wire through the frame. (Then again, maybe if you started pushing the wire from the rear, it might work.)

Honestly I am surprised Quadratec or another company did not come up with something already?

I can't wait for the iJDMTOY lights. Hopefully they are pretty quick at turning them around. I will update as soon as they send them.
Any updates?

Mind taking a photo of the screen once you wire them up? Curious how the light looks on those from that angle on the camera.

Will do. Just got the LEDs tapped Into the curt hitch wiring harness to power on when in reverse. I’ll try and snap a few pics this eve.
