Short version: Ball joint install found ball bearings on floor after.
So I did a ball joint replacement this weekend and while cleaning up found 5 ball bearings on the floor in the garage. Is there anywhere in the front end axle area that could have lost ball bearings? Could it be from my torque wrench, floor jack, anything besides a valuable component of my jeep? Or is this the beginning of a bad story?

How big are they? Theres a bearing on the FAD side of the axle to support the axle shaft

My guess is the wheels on the jack. Check those as it has happened to me.

Depending on the size, it could be from the unit hub bearing.

Those appear to be too small to have anything to do with the front end of your Jeep.

That makes me very happy to hear. I need to take the wheels off of the jack and check those now I guess.

OMG! Those are the muffler bearings! Does your Jeep sound louder at acceleration?

Seriously though. NOT from your Ball Joints. LOL

The real question is how is there one halft the size of the rest. I think you spilled some bbs on the ground.

I'm betting on floor creeper wheels, if you use one. I've had them disgorge their bearings before.

My guess is swivel caster bearings. Jack, creeper, etc.

I do have the Harbor Freight floor jack so I am really glad so many people have had the same issue. When I got the wheels back on and then saw the BBs on the floor I could not believe it. A very sincere thanks to all who helped.
