22 JLURD with Mopar lift and 37’s. Looking to replace the ball joints. At I searched the interwebs to look it up and I cannot seem to find anything about replacing ball joints with a FAD. Is there anything special about it or do you just remove the outer shaft and not worry about the inner shaft. Also if that is so, is there anything special about re-inserting the axle shaft?

I guess the question is do you just remove the pass side shaft like the drivers side? Nothing special?

@c20040215 thanks. [Banned Site] seemed to make it more difficult.

Im no expert but when I did mine, I dont remember having to mess with any clips or remove the FAD module and do anything in there. I just pull the shaft out with unit bearing as one piece.

I put the jeep in 4h when I do knuckles and BJs , it shifts the collar keeping it from falling in the axle tube….it just makes it easier for me….

Sounds like a great labor saving step. So, you don't need to remove the FAD cover?

No, …. You can chance it in 2wd that it will stay in the fork if you’re really careful ( lucky) but I only did that once, and I wasn’t lucky, 🤣

Do like @Roky said and put it in 4hi or lo and make sure it engages. That'll engage the FAD so the sleeve stays on the inner shaft, then you can pull the outer shaft out. Otherwise there's a good chance the sleeve will drop into the bottom of the FAD housing and you'll have to open it up and reinstall it.
