Anyone running or plan to run 40's?....
I see that you are by Sedona. I wheeled all over around Sedona, Cottonwood, Jerome, Mingus mountain area for months. You could wheel most of that area with 40s on stock axles, as there are miles and miles of trails that would not over stress the stock axles. Mind you there are hard obstacles in those areas, but most that I have done did not require lockers with 37. There are trails down by Table Mesa the badge trails that you may want to avoid. One was named Rattlesnake or Python… can’t remember the exact name . Came to a split in the trail. One way the trail tipped to the passenger side to a rock face and it looked like hundreds of vehicles had sacrificed their windows to. The other side had a rock in the middle of the trail that looked like a pyramid. It looked like it had been blessed with the oil from many oil pans. Turned around we did.

Still , living in your area, if you’re going to wheel it, spend the $25,000 to $30,000 to set your Jeep up right. Just like nobody is talking about 40s and hydro steering. That just tell me that if you are on 40s and you don’t have hydro steering, you probably are not wheeling hard trails. If you are, you must embrace the suck.

Oh, and one last thing, and this is why you’re trolls -
Not everyone off roads their Jeep and I think 40’s, at the mall, are just fine…. Who cares!

But as I says earlier, I’d leave them for dead if I ever encountered a jeep (392 or other) broke down on a hard trail, while running 40’s on stock axles. Same thing for those of you that don’t carry a spare, not that one of my 8-lug 40’s would help them.

Again, pay to play- either in consequence or in a properly built and equipped vehicle ?

Pull your panties up. You called out a known member who post their trips all the time.

Posting you would openly NOT help a Jeeper says a lot about you. I understand the frustration of the unprepared Jeeper but few would leave them stranded.

I've lived the v8 42s Jeep life, just not for me at this time. The worst mistake I ever made was swapping in a small block and an auto tranny. MT life for me, so I'm stuck with a 3.6.

Still in Sedona. Yes, all the trails around here within a 50 mile radius are mild. I'm still running 37's on my early '21, so it has 3.73 gears. I've done all the 5 & 6 trails in Moab without any problems, even with 37's it would be nice to have hydro. I do keep thinking of 40's & tons & hydro....JEEP...;)

Well it’s a really good thing that I’ve never encountered one, which was really my point!

Mall crawlers stay on the pavement and, when they do go off-road, they avoid the hard trails. This doesn’t make them ‘less-than’ anyone else out here just because they’re too scared/smart to scratch up their 100k+ jeep.

completely agree that leaving someone dead on a trail is an incredibly stupid thing to say.

I have never broke down on the trail. I carry a bunch of tool. I have loaned out tools many time and helped other do trail side repairs. I carry 1/2 Milwaukee impact gun and big sockets. They have been loaned out twice to replace front u-joints. I have plugged four tires for others. Leaving others behind can be deadly at worst and not good for the community at large. Shit happens. Sometimes people get in over their head. Even though you might leave someone behind I would still stop and help you. Just like the guy I pulled almost ten miles down the beach on Cape Outlook on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He had a GMC Serria truck that was not capable of pulling his camper in the deep sand even though it was a4x4. His wrecker bill would have been well over a $1000.
At the end of the day, some have to build their Jeeps in stages.

Well said! I don’t believe even I am capable of spewing this much hot garbage and venom in one nonsensical rant.

This is the issue with “Smashsmorshmins” ….On occasion, they find a way out of the garbage can.

Leaving someone for dead is a bit of a rabid statement…

Phenotypic variation exists among individuals and the variation is heritable. Those individuals with heritable traits better suited to the environment will survive….You have successfully thwarted Darwins plan.

Just my personal experience.....I've "wheeled" technical trails with 37s on modified stock D44s. The electric power steering does not hold up well. Especially running single digit psi. After @2 hours of "wheeling" the steering is so taxed to the point that it feels like I'm trying to turn on dry pavement with my front lockers on.

What do I know though?

I'm running 39in BFG stickies with PSC steering and a semi float 60 now. Sometimes I take my Jeep to the mall too. LOL

If Ted @wibornz is a troll, I guess I am one too since he's wheeled more in one year than I have in 20.

To the OP, you can run 40s on your 392. Your Jeep, do what you want with it. ;)

He’s a flat-lander that retired doesn’t make him an authority on anything. He’s a guy that that simply gets his kicks by showing everyone how special he thinks he is by putting down the people with better toys and a lot more money than he has. I’ve also noticed that he is followed by a small group of guys that are dumb enough to believe him… likely because they want to be him.

But what do I know… but I bet my education, pay check, and Jeeps are bigger than yours, combined✌

Idea! Take some of that BIG money you claim to have (obviously its your entire personality) and get that stick taken out of your ass.

I’ll schedule it for you….
