How do you like the MT Baja Bosses? I now have the BFG 39” KM3s, my 40” Mud Terrains needed replaced and I had the 39s so I put them on. Problem is they are basically a 37” tire. I want a 40” and am looking at the MTs.I use a Rustys Spare tire carrier to carry my 40” tire with the stock rear bumper. And it has plenty of room.
I have the 40” Nitto Trail Grapplers on our Gladiator and they are quieter than the Baja Boss tires. If given the option again I would probably choose the Nitto’s. They just weren’t available when I ordered the MT’s. They are both great tires, but I prefer the Nitto’s.
Feel free to count all 5 of my lugs! I’m proud to be running 40’s on stock axles when the internet told me it couldn’t be done!
I’m just playing too but people told me 4 years ago I couldn’t do it on my Gladiator with stock axles and here I am still running stock axles, driveshafts, steering, ball joints, etc. I went in to it knowing that I was putting extra strain on things that I would address as the issues came up, and have proven that all these things aren’t necessary to run 40’s as long as you know that things can happen. I also know I’m not getting stupid on the trails and I’m not a “hardcore wheeler” but I’ve done plenty of trails and road trips
It can do 5-6s in moab stock. With 40s you could run Pritchett canyon no problem.
Ha, I’d leave you broken on the trail if I saw you on 40’s with stock axles, on Pritchett. You have to ‘pay to play’ on the big-kid trails?
John Bull is every bit as hard as Pritchett, but it's only a 3.6L on 39s. Ran Pritchett in our 2019 on 37s. Stock axles. No breaks. If you try to bounce your way through, or hammer the throttle on every obstacle, you'll be broken for sure. Pick good lines and only use the throttle you need and you'd be amazed where you can go with stock axles. Having more power doesn't mean you have to use it all the time.
