Same hiccup/stumble, just below 3k in 3rd.
2018 V6 6M unlimited Rubicon... been there since day one...some days more noticeable then other. Also running premium fuel.
Would like it to be resolved, so hopefully someone maybe will stumble across a solution!

Agreed I really think it has something to do with the electronic throttle. I had tuned mine and it didn’t do anything to mitigate it.

Hi there. We recommend reaching out to your dealer for this. If you need support during any appointments, let us know!

My 2018 JL was a manual and it was flawless other than the rev hang. Now my 2022, every so often has the 3rd gear hiccup while maintaining speed also on a few occasions I put the jeep in neutral and my rpm's would fluctuate up and down with my foot off the gas. I'm willing to bet it's the gas pedal assembly as it has the module built into it. Also found this on the internet.

What are the symptoms of a failing throttle position sensor?

  • An unexplainable bucking and jerking in the vehicle.
  • Sudden idle surges.
  • Sudden engine stalling without any apparent reason.
  • Hesitation while accelerating.
  • Sudden surges in speed while driving on the highway.
  • Intermittently flashing of check engine light for no apparent reason.
  • Difficulties in changing gears.

I've never experienced this in my 2018/manual, which now has 64k miles on it.

My wife's 2021 Etorque/auto doesn't do it either. 19k on that one.

I'd definitely get a dealer's attention on this if mine were doing it.

Might not be noticeable if you don’t have an aftermarket exhaust on the 18’

I've got a Magaflow on the 18. Stock on the 21.

I'm pretty sensitive to that kind of stuff. I'm sure I would pick up on it. My wife would not, though.

That said, if you don't notice it, then it effectively doesn't exist.

Sounds like it is pretty noticeable to the folks that have it, though.

Ya for me I can repeat as many times as often as I would want to. I drove around it for my sanity. Ended up selling it to the dealership just because I couldn’t take it anymore.

I just noticed this today actually, 6,300 kms total. 87 octane always used. Checked air filter, good to go. Still waiting to do it's first service but I get this weird hiccup almost hesitation around the same RPM. I'm completely stock. I will put in 91 octane next time I fill up and see if it makes a difference or not? Will monitor this thread for more updates and everyone's experiences :)

I had the hiccup as well, upgraded clutch to CF, no more hiccup.
i was wondering if the hiccup was actually the damn clutch slipping, and your reply basically confirms it. How many miles did you have on yours ? Do you have the new version of the centerforce or the old. If its the new one how is it performing so far....? thanks

I can promise mine was not clutch slipping as I could feather the throttle slowly raising the rpm to 2700 rpm when it would hiccup. Every time. Lower Rpms as well but the one at 2700 rpm was the worst one. Only in third gear as well.

That's not enough to detect clutch slippage. Look at the test procedure that came with the first recall on manual transmissions. It's abrupt and almost violent. But it would be much more precise than just driving feel.

I’ll look it up. It’s just hard to think that simply by how predictable it was, but If that’s what it was the whole time that’d be crazy. It’s one of the reasons among a few others why I sold it back to the dealership and just went to find my second TJ. I’m hoping your right for everyone else’s sake though Dan.

was an ‘18 Rubicon Mojito! now a boring Mazda
Mine is doing this too I think. For the past few days I give it gas and it feels like it is hesitating. Almost like when you are in too high gear and you go slow how it bucks.
but very very-slightly
Does this mean my clutch is slipping???.
