Thank you. I have been using the Pennzoil 0-20 Platinum. Not sure if the switch from Pennzoil to Mobil 1 in the same weight would make any difference. I also am not quite sure what this engine is suppose to sound like. Drove a 7.3 Diesel for 20 yrs. Then had a 4cyl turbo. So its a whole new sound for me.
We actually switched from pennzoil ultra 0w20 to the Mobil 1 EP on both my wife’s Jeep and my hemi Durango. Much quieter, especially on cold starts so we stuck with that oil. No complaints

Interesting. I thought the manual says to use 0-20. I might give the 5-30 a try.
It does but many think it was due to achieve better MPG in testing.
Yes, listening to mechanics, and a few in the auto industry, who talk, and it is all about squeezing every last mpg.out of the engine they can. They say using 5w30 will reduce engine noise, and do no harm, only get slightly less.mpg. I don't care about saving 1/2 mpg, but want less engine noise.
It's my engine. Noise in a gas engine is bad, screw what the owners manual says.

Great. Thanks for all the advice. You too Jack.
I think i only went with the Pennzoil from reading from here. So i have no attachment to any specific manufacturer. Just trying to use whats been used and recommended. I will give it a try. Change my oil between 4k-5k anyway and will be in that window next week. So perfect timing to give it a try.
Thanks again.

did the oil change less than 1K miles ago. There was a slight glitter look to my oil… but I was essentially turned away from a dealership twice because there wasn’t a smoking gun. Just have a misfire in 5 and of course they didn’t hear a knock or just ignored the fact that I mentioned it. Have a dealer appointment with a different one on Tuesday to have them look at it. Will tell them to open it up regardless if they get the sign off from JEEP or not. Have 2 months left on my powertrain warranty so it’s now or never… hoping for a new engine at this point… if they would’ve done any due diligence or cared they probably could’ve saved my engine… but it’s been 3+ months now and I drive it daily.
I had the exact same scenario, glitter in the oil , noisy on start up ignored by 1 dealer completely and after a cam replacement at another dealer too "fix" the problem
it's in for a complete engine replacement with 13000km . Good luck and don't give up I ended up recording every time I stared it for evidence. A real pain in the ass but that's ultimately what got me a engine replacement.

Why are some of these engine failing?

Thanks and that’s great that you’re getting a new engine.

I am hopeful since they looked slightly concerned when I had shown them a picture of my spark plugs. The other dealership was like “oh… okay” and proceeded to not really care. Here is a pic of my oil fouled spark plugs at 42k.
