Not to hijack your thread OP, but does anyone have any thoughts on this squealing noise? First time I’ve heard this, just took this video after starting the Jeep to warm up this morning. My first thought is the belt.

Edit: Noise gone after 5 minutes or so.
Your Jeep looks wet, maybe the squeaky belt was wet too? The motion/engine heat would dry it off after a few minutes.

Do that, and I expect you'll be surprised by how ticky it is.

The 3.6 in my 2021 clunks too, when it’s cold, before the jeep warms up to temp. Idk if it’s because of the VVL/VVT or what, but I don’t like it. It’s sitting at 9.5k miles.
Here’s what mine sounds like during cold starts. it’s not a daily so it sits for days all time. Phone is in passenger fender well

Sounded like mine, before I changed the oil.

Interesting. Coincidentally, I changed the oil three days ago and haven’t driven since then and I am going to go wheeling early in the morning. Will update on the noise when I start her up in the morning.

OP what oil and filter are you running? My '21 is at 9K miles and not nearly that noisy (yet). I do my own oil changes, using Valvoline 0W-20 Extended Protection and Mopar 349 oil filter.

okay I was absolutely not expecting this but There is absolutely a change in the sound after the oil change :surprised:

It’s no longer there during start up but I can hear it about a minute after start up until the Jeep warms up but now it’s not every time. During some cold start ups, the noise never comes. This is really interesting.

My 2019 has 11k miles and does the same thing when cold. My 2012 Avenger with the 2.4L clicks much louder when cold. Once the engine warms up though it always goes away within a minute or two on both vehicles. The colder it is, the louder they’ll tick and the longer it will take to go away. Both have done it since new and it has never caused a problem on either vehicle (160k+ miles on the Avenger).
Dealt with the same ticking on a cold start with my 2010 Challenger with the 3.6L. Didn’t cause any problems with that either through 150k miles. If that ticking doesn’t go away after a few minutes and the engine is warmed up, that’s when I would start to question it.

If you’re concerned about it, have the dealer check it out, but I guess I’m so used to it that it doesn’t even phase me…. Just my 2 cents on my past experience.

Try some redline 0w-20 next change.. it's a thicker 0w20 with high levels of zinc and moly. I've been using FCA vehicles for over 10 years now with variable valve timing, hemi's etc. I have 150k on a 6.4 hemi, nothing but redline and amsoil 0w-20 but the redline really quited the valvetrain noise so I went it exclusively at about 50k. I've also used nothing but Mobil1 and amsoil oil filters. Mainly Mobil1 depending on rebates, etc.

Have a 21 3.6 with less than 10000 miles with a terrible intermittent bottom end noise seemingly only on cold starts after 12 plus hours of sitting . Just brutal . Has anyone ever solved this issue.....

I don't care what others say, these 3.6 engines shouldn't be making that noise. Take it to a reputable dealership, and raise hell, while it still has a warranty.
