  1. Whither a JL?

It sounds like the Wrangler isn't the ideal vehicle for you. If the idea is gnawing at you, test drive one and you'll likely find it easier to make up your mind.
  2. You can’t drive my Jeep.

We're a single vehicle family, so the Jeep is driven by both of us. We're going to eventually get a second vehicle, but it'll likely be a CJ or a pickup from the 50s/60s so she'll still probably be driving the JL.
  3. Jumping battery if alone?

I've been reading through all these threads preparing for the inevitable day when my Jeep doesn't start due to the batteries. From what I've read, it's possible to jump start a newer than 2018 JL with a dead aux battery with a jump pack, but you need to "separate out the two batteries". Is...
  4. Premium Soft Top Shrank? WTH?

The top shrinks in the cold like a lid on a jar of pickles in the fridge. If you're having trouble latching it back up, run it under hot water turn on your heater full blast for 10 mins.
  5. Insist on synthetic oil?

I actually look forward to doing oil changes, swapping winter/summer tires, switching the tops, and other bits of maintenance. I guess I need to aim a little higher when coming up with weekend plans haha
  6. Insist on synthetic oil?

As stated above, "An equivalent full synthetic engine oil can be used if it meets API SP/GF-6A Certification". If I were in your shoes, I'd change the oil asap to the correct stuff. The owner's manual also states that failure to use the right oil can cause engine damage not covered by the...
  7. Penzoil Platinum Ultra

I used to use Platinum, but for my latest oil change I used the Ultra Platinum. I check my oil regularly and interestingly this time around my oil has turned darker than it had before with this much mileage/oil life. Not sure what to make of that. Either way, both oils meet/exceed the...
  8. Is Sirius XM Service Renewal for Real?

About 15 years ago I had to give up on my favourite (terrestrial) classic rock station due to its "Hotel California problem". I noticed the same thing with SXM during the free trial.
  9. Heated Steering Wheel Issue JLU

I don't know the answer to your question, however I can say mine does the exact same thing.
  10. Jeep Wave Pressure

Some think the JT isn't a "real" Jeep because its longer wheel base makes it less capable off road. However, the same can be said about the JLU. Only the 2 door owners have any grounds to judge. Let he who is without four doors cast the first stone.
  11. Popping/Rattle Noise

It could be coming from your hard top panels, or maybe your sun visor (just a guess)
  12. Basic garage floor hardtop storage options

Looking at your soft top, I'm guessing you use this setup for an entire season. Have you noticed any warping issues with your hard top? I'd be a little concerned that the straps near the bottom of the windows would pull the hardtop out of shape over time.
  13. Questionable Gifts

Put all of it on so they can see it, and slowly take it off piece by piece over a few months. They just want to see you used and (at least pretend to have) enjoyed their gift.
  14. Flat towing 2021 Jeep Rubicon

On the couple occasions I've gone down past 4H it was a dance to get it out. In general, the JL gear stick for the transfer case is stiff when new or unused. Mine was hard to get into 4H when I first got it, but now it goes in with ease. As I've only gone into 4L a couple times early on I'm...
  15. Strategy for snow?

Go slow and use 4-Hi when the road is covered with snow or ice. If you're starting to get into a situation, remember you want the wheels rolling to regain control (ie don't panic brake). One thing to remember: it doesn't matter how winter-ready your rig is or how much skill you possess, if you...
  16. Tazer Mini Brake hold issue!!!

If for safety reasons they didn't want people to use this feature in situations where a door is opened or a seatbelt unfastened, you'd think they'd put the Jeep in auto-park before releasing the brake. If that's beyond the capability of the Tazer, then their implementation of this feature is...
  17. Advice on Getting Naked

It's not exactly a Jeep accessory, but a boonie hat is probably your best option to protect your head/face from the sun while the top is down/off.
  18. Would like some insight on how it would be to daily a wrangler.

This is such a highly debated topic because there isn't a clear winner. When the 2.0T was new it had the drawback of being unproven, but that's no longer the case. I've driven both and both are good. (The V6 sounds a lot nicer, though.) If you're buying used/off the lot, just go with whatever...
  19. Would like some insight on how it would be to daily a wrangler.

Based on the discussion I've read on the forum, perspective really shapes the on road Jeep experience. Having only driven econobox cars and crossovers, my Jeep actually has the plushest ride of any vehicle I've had extended time with. I daily drive my Jeep and love it. However, people who have...
