That can't be a real question, looking at what you've already posted in this thread.

How's the Bronco?
My 2 door 2.7 Bronco is great except it sucks on gas. Worse then my 4 door Xtreme Recon 2.0T Willys. I average about 17mpg with the Bronco and 20.5 with the Willys XR. I feel like I only take 3 short drives and I'm filling it up already.

The 4xe intrigues me but seems really freaking pricey for what I'm learning it really is. Or NOT is. And I really thought it got at least 49mpg on hybrid mode. That at least I thought was it's benefit when going on a longer trip. I mean that what most other Hybrids get. Makes my point valid about the 21 total miles full electric being not impressive unless your only driving it around town 6 miles here and there.

Apparently the hybrid mode is not like what you see in Prius/RAV4.. It exhausts the battery first then becomes some kinda mild hybrid that uses reserve capacity in the battery to provide the HP and torque boost where needed. So the combined mpg rating of 49 is sort of averaging out how many ever miles you got on electric only driving. (x electric miles + y hybrid miles / across fuel used)

Even in the post battery deplete hybrid mode, you end up getting punchy torque from the electric motor assist..but all that weight baring down on the puny 2.0L drives down the mpg to 19-20mpg post battery depletion.

I got this assumed wrong too.. until some 4xe folks in the forum made this clear in an earlier thread last month. I assumed the motor will have no effect after battery is below 1% - which is not the case. The regen braking and other stuff puts a little charge into the battery and the reserve capacity makes it operate like a hybrid.
Dam. And I was somewhat starting to consider the 4xe. I thought 49 mpg hybrid mode sounded good. Lol. But sounds like it doesn't really do that. Might be time to buy that new Prius. ?

I am still ok with the way it works.. the real kicker is that the 2.0L is the wrong engine - esp post battery drain with all that weight. If they made Gladiator 4xe on top of the Hurricane platform with slightly higher capacity battery - Jeep can have my money right away.. id buy that.

That’s a good point about the drive train loses. Jeep built the 4xe to ease people into going electric. They wanted to keep the Wrangler as close as possible to ICE versions. Can you imagine if they did what most companies are doing and making one axle ICE powered and the other electric powered? Essentially making the 4xe fwd with an electric rear axle? Or keep the drivetrain intact, ditched the transfer case, and powered the front axle with an electric motor? People would be up in arms.
That's exactly what the European 4xe Renegades and Compasses are.

You're right that the 4xe doesn't get Prius mileage.

It will, however, drag a Bronco backwards easily. It also clicks off high 5-second 0-60 times. All while averaging over 20MPG in my case over 15k of hard wheeling and Overlanding with RTT.

I'd love to see it drag a 2.7 Bronco backwards easily. I'm guessing it would be pretty close. As well would a drag race against my 2.7 twin turbo 2 door Sasquatch. Things a Beast!

And as much as I would love better fuel economy 17.7 mpg isn't too bad for what it is on 35 inch tires. Especially considering I didn't pay $60k+ for it.

Seriously - what is Jeep's aversion to adding more battery to the 4xE? I would keep buying them if they would just add more EV range, even if it was an "extended range" upgrade like most other EVs. 20 miles with their terrible regenerative recharge system is ridiculous.

My wife has a Kia Nero PHEV and the hybrid system in the Nero makes the 4xE seem like a joke -- and the Nero was half the price of my Jeep and has 50% more EV range and once your EV runs out and swaps over to hybrid the Nero still gets like 50MPG.

C'mon Jeep give me SOMETHING here. I really don't want to swap to a pure EV yet, especially with how I use my 4xE, but they're almost forcing me to look at the lightning or a R1T if I want to maintain off-road capability with more EV range at low temps and some modicum of basic towing.
Wonder how your wife's nero would do on the trails. LOL

@JeepViking13 It's a fair point. I'm not going to blindly defend the 4xe. Of course it would be great if it had a greater range. I agree.
If in the next year or two it comes with a higher range model, still in hybrid form, I would seriously consider upgrading to that one. As much as I like mine - I would love a higher electric range.
(I also found that the 21 miles is also in optimal conditions only.)

I love the 4xe for what it is and how I use it. My commute to work (mostly highway) will result in about 40% of battery left after one way. I rarely fill up as I only use a bit of gas and recharge at home on the 220V.

It takes some getting used to planning trips and using those 24-26 miles correctly. It keeps things interesting watching the MPG combined data. Pretty cool vehicle overall and I am happy with mine. It would be nice for extra battery range (minus any more lost space and weight), better infotainment system and a drivers seat which doesn't make you feel like your ass is sliding off . :)

The 4xe is really tuned for short range battery and supplying a lot of additional power vs. blending the battery as more of a "range extender", so depending on your use case, it can be killer at what it does really well, or "unimpressive" if you're looking at the extra cost/weight/space loss.

When we got ours in April '21 (pretty early adopter), the base price was a few thousand lower, we got an actual discount and as a lease (which was a pretty good offer), we got the $7500 applied as a cap reduction - and compared to a non-4xe Wrangler with the same options (the 4xe is pretty loaded), it was less than a couple of grand price difference.

We get like 1000 miles per tank since we operate mostly on battery, working from home and operating in a small area. Like today, the wife dropped off the daughter at school, ran up to a store and back home, and the 4xe is showing 31% of battery left, so that calculates to ~26 miles of range total at the same usage rate (down to 0%).

That said, absolutely I would take some additional range, even another 10 miles max efficiency would've been nice - but we may still opt for another 4xe next year, we love this one, and the updates are super nice, AND we might go for an automatic soft top this time vs. dealing with the hoist for removing the hardtop.

Agreed. I currently have about 500km on one tanks of gas and the range still shoes 425km. I should be over 1,000km before I fill up again.

As a former Niro owner, I can answer this. It does okay on gravel parking lots. It will get stuck if you try to drive on anything rougher than that.

It's a commuter vehicle that is never meant for, and should never be used on, anything besides maintained/paved roads. And don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic commuter vehicle, even if a tad bit boring. I loved getting 500+ miles on 11 gallon tank. But a vehicle for outdoor adventures, it is not.

Another thing to remember, there is an income cap for the EV credit, we didn't qualify, YMMV:clap:
