I’m trying to decide which engine to choose when ordering a 24 Ribicon X. I do very little off-roading and love going fast. I’m hooked on jeeps so buying a “muscle car” isn’t what I want. I have a 22 4Xe but the benefit of 22 miles on the battery doesn’t fit our long distance driving habits and the scarcity of charging stations when traveling usually leaves us using the ICE most of the time anyway. Crappy mileage on the 392 and big price tag is a turnoff for that model. Any suggestions?

I’d probably keep the 4xe for the hybrid mode and torque personally since you like going fast, but out of the two of those I’d get the 2.0. My 3.6 works for me, but I’m also in the flat as hell and sea level portion of Tennessee. As soon as I drive to Arkansas or East Tennessee I can feel the limitation of NA.

Why would you get rid of a '22 4xe when it already has a 2.0, or 3.6, and it mostly runs in ICV mode. Do you like that engine? If yes, stick with it. If you don't, but a Jeep with the other engine. A Rubicon will add like, zero value to you if you really don't ever go off-road.

?‍♂ I feel like this is a trick question.

We have one of each. The 2.0T is so quick that my wife doesn’t like to drive it. Of course my Rubi is the one with the 2.0T ?

So... you've got the 2.0 hybrid and want to choose between the 2.0 and 3.6 for mpg only on long trips ?
Well, the 2.0 you already own will always get better mileage than the 3.6 even though yours won't do it right now only on the engine due to the weight...
2.0 ;)

Neither will have the pep of the 4xe, but I understand if you drive distance a lot the 4xe is a half baked idea for that and MPG is not good.

The 2.0 would probably have a little more pep from reading here on the forums I have never owned one, better MPG also.

I would suggest going and test drive both. 3.6 is just a good all around engine in my opinion have owned a couple and were rock solid but nothing exciting.

Don go test drive them both. Most are going to say they like the engine they have. Me included. I really like the 3.6 auto combo. But the next person will say they like their 2.0. They both are good so go drive them both and pick the one you all like.

My vote would be a 2.0 but that's after having a 3.6 for 11 years.

OP, what engine is in your '2021 JT Mojave listed in your profile? I'd assume you already have a good taste of what both engines are like. ?

If you want MPG for long distance drives I don't think a Wrangler is what you should be considering especially if you want fast as well.

Go get a Model Y (even the LR is fast as hell) and call it s day.
