No need to cool the turbo down.
After prolonged heavy loads, sure its good practice but its not necessary.
The Owner's Manual does indeed instruct the owner to provide a cool-down period for the turbocharger, in the form of suggested post-drive idle times.

Does the water pump run after shutdown on these engines?

I can't find this idling information in my 2025 Owner's Manual.

No it does not.

The owner's manual for my 2025 Jeep is more full of warnings that are common sense and has the worst user usefull/necessary info and some tiny pictures of any manual I've ever read! Here, scan the QR code....mkay just print it here. LOL

That is nowhere to be found in 2025 manual. I think its good practice, but lets face it, how many people that buy a jeep would like to have to sit there for 2 minutes waiting for the car to cool off? not many. This would be a turn off for many buyers, so Jeep and other manufacturers had to find a way to get around this. I know jeep has a secondary coolant electric pump so maybe that pump runs as needed to cool the turbo? No idea.

Edit: according to this thread, aux pump runs for 10 minutes after engine shut down to cool the turbo. (17) Looking for information on MOPAR vs. after-market Auxilliary Coolant Pump | Jeep Wrangler Forums (JL / JLU) -- Rubicon, 4xe, 392, Sahara, Sport - JLwranglerforums.com

You had nothing but problems with your 3.6. Yes, by all means get the 2.0

I had no idea about this. It must just run under extreme conditions because I can't recall ever hearing it running after I shut the Jeep off. Or is it rather quiet when running? This is on a '25 Willys 2L turbo...

They took that cooldown portion out of the manual starting on the 24s. I already went thru that search. I do let mine run for 30-60 seconds after shifting into park. Good, bad, i dunno

That is what I thought. No need to sit and idle.

So.

I stand my ground that there is no noticeable difference between both engines.

Regarding the reliability of the pentastar. It IS a reliable engine. There are way more old pentastar out on the road than 2.0s. When an issue comes up, people will google it, and it will point them out to these forums, because a couple members had the issue and they posted extremely useful information about it. Making these forums the most likely to show up when looking for pentastar issues. So these forums will make it look like there is a big issue with the pentastar. Reality is that statistically the pentastar is considered a realiable engine, and if you search anywhere else on the internet outside of these forums, thats what youll get.

If you are worried about pentastar reliability, most with the issue fail under 100k miles. Around 60k miles. So you can always get extended warranty and always keep an eye on coolant level and any ticking noise.

There was a time my 2019 JL had to go to get warranty work for about 3 weeks or so. I was given a 2.0 JL as loaner. I did not notice any difference. Maybe a bit of a lag? Maybe less refined, not as smooth? A bit peppier on acceleration from stop?. Negligible. And I only noticed cause I am a Jeep enthusiast and I was paying attention. So I attribute the noticed difference to my brain just making shit up.

My wife however, has no clue about different engines and all that. And told me one day after commuting with the loaner a few times. "When are we getting our new jeep back? I think there is something wrong with this Jeep". I asked, what do you mean? And she said "idk the transmission or something, it is rough, it wont go when I accelerate, it is like it has a mind of its own, and it sounds screechie". Thatd be the engine I said; it has a different engine. "Well I hate this engine" she said.

2025 we went to the dealer to buy a new Jeep. They had a 2.0 and 3.6 exact same configuration we wanted, 2.0 2k cheaper. I was leaning for the 2.0 cause to me theyre the same shit and cheaper why not. I had the wife test drive them and didnt tell them they had different engines (blind test kinda). She recognized the 2.0 immediately and told me DO NOT buy that Jeep.

So again. To me, I notice no difference. Wife does. And she claims V6 is not only a bit better, but way better. Keep in mind she isnt thinking performance in terms of speed or acceleration. She is thinkong easiness of driving, comfort, etc...

On paper. The 2.0 is slightly better.

So what you all have to do, is test drive them. If you notice no difference buy the cheapest, and if you do, buy the one you like and let it be. Seriously. Let it be. You dont have the best engine, I dont have the best engine. Nobody does.

Mine is bigger than yours tho. And youll just have to live with that.
