I just had the recall done and unfortunately mine was installed upside down as well. I will have to flip it over!

FCA engineer #1 says to another FCA engineer: "I know, let's make sure the techs at the dealerships can't screw this up, let's add a label to the stabilizer pointing to the front of the Jeep so there is no way they can screw it up".

FCA engineer #2 replies: "Seriously, they aren't THAT dumb. The instructions are included in the recall kit. It would cost us extra per steering stabilizer costing us a ton of money."

FCA engineer #1 months later says to FCA engineer #2: "Yup, the techs are even dumber than we both thought. They are STILL putting on the stabilizer wrong even with the label pointing which direction to install it. Look at these posts on the JL forum. Geeze.

FCA engineer #2 replies: "Yeah, should of known. They are still putting in 6 quarts of oil instead of 5 quarts in the JL."

Got a call from the service manager after making appointment over the app, he was able to set aside one for me. He said it was the last one. Install is tomorrow morning, hopefully they won’t disappoint! This is going to be at DuPage Jeep Dealer.

This stabilizer replacement is about as simple as you could get, but they still screw it up. What can you say... it's beyond words!

Anyone change it on their own and get reimbursed for it? Any issues? Rather do it in my garage than let the dealer loose on it.

According to FCA it is to allow faster fluid transfer, thereby supposedly enhancing the performance as long as the bulge is positioned downward.

FCA will only reimburse for the OEM part. There's another thread floating around about this... I swapped mine out for a Fox ATS a couple weeks back & I'm not gonna bother with the FCA part. They're using the same manufacturer.

That also means they ignored the label on it with the arrow that has "front of vehicle" written on it, since that would put the bulge in the correct position.
Assuming the technicians are male, you'd think they'd know where the bulge should be.

When I finally can GET an appointment (Friday my dealer couldn't access the warranty/recall database) and today they put me on hold so long I got disconnected.. three times)... I think I will remind them to read the label and put it on correctly. And I won't drive off until I visually confirm it, or they can do it again.

Finally received my V41 notice in the mail yesterday. I had already replaced my steering stabilizer with the Fox Shocks stabilizer before the recall was announced. Before reading this thread and others where people called FCA only to be told that there would be no reimbursement if you replaced your stabilizer with an aftermarket, I had already submitted for reimbursement on the Mopar site. I got the stock email from Jeep Customer Care that they will be sending my reimbursement request to the reimbursement review team. I will report back on what happens. FWIW I replaced my stock stabilizer with a Fox Shocks 2.0 part 985-24-173.
