OK, so the million $ question is the smaller hole correct and perhaps the hole gets bigger when it's worn by the nub on the end of the camshaft?
It just stretches over the end of the oil separator shaft.

As for what's inside, I'm at a loss.

But the traditional PCV valve that went into the intake manifold (not air cleaner tube), closed from high vacuum, when the engine was idling, which redirected any crankcase pressure to another tube which led to the air filter chamber to let blowby into the intake charge ahead of the carburetor. If it had let blowby air into the intake manifold after the carburetor, the engine wouldn't have a controlled idle. When the throttle was opened it reduced manifold vacuum and the spring in the PCV valve opened the valve to let blowby into the intake manifold .

I took a closer look at the one I removed and if you put your finger in you can pull the "rubber" back and it then looks like the new part with the small hole so yes the "rubber" gets displace from the shaft and makes the 2 parts appear different when in fact they're the same other then new & installed and old:)

it's been a while and looks like the price of the new part has come to a reasonable price ($40+).
My 2021 JL 3.6 is consuming excessive oil (can see in oil catch can) and planning to replace the PCV valve. Has anyone tried this new part, does it help reducing oil consumption?

There is no "new" part & yes if the PCV valve is bad this may help your oil issue (it did for my wife's JL).

On my 2020 willys 3.6 it made no difference in the amount of oil my catch can collected.
1000 miles before and after new PCV valve no difference.

Which is laughably small. This is nothing.
Laughably small…. and adds up over time. A quart every 16K miles. My 440 from 1970 doesn’t burn this much oil.

I can see you don't care when climbing a steep incline that there is a possibility to suck oil into the PCV system and into the motor.
I have seen it in person and its not in my plans to have it happen to me.

Yea, okay.
Meanwhile every other car on the road is burning a half quart or more per 1000 miles and running along just fine.

Ford factory oil catch can. I am not the only one that thinks a catch can is a good idea.
