I read a lot of information in the forums about the PVC valve and how difficult it can be to replace. However, there was not a lot of info on replacing it.
I replaced the valve on my 2018 JLU today and found it to be fairly easy.
The part is inexpensive and easily found on line. Here is how I did it.
First inspect the new part so you understand what you are going to take out! This will help you in the long run. The center seal stretches over the end of the cam so it will appear smaller than the one you are replacing.
Remove the engine cover for easier access. (You might find it helpful to move a few things out of your way.) The valve is located on the back of the passenger side valve cover. (The valve cover actually has directions on it for removal with an arrow.)

First release the vacuum hose from the top of the pvc valve which has a quick release fitting. You dont have to pry the hose off of the fitting as some would suggest! Push down on the hose housing and squeeze the grey fittings together and pull up.
Next, there is a small catch on the top of the valve that you have to release in order for it to turn to the left. Pry it back with a screw driver to release it. It might break, but thats ok because you are replacing it.
Turn the valve about 15 degrees to your left to unlock it. You will now have to gently pry the valve out to release the O ring. It fits in there fairly snug. Remove the part and replace with the new PVC valve. Be sure and oil up the cam seal and O ring! Reinstalling the new valve requires a little patience . I used a large pry bar to gently squeeze it back in. Make sure to apply even pressure and it will pop back in. There is not a lot of room to work back there. Once the valve is seated. Turn it to the right until the small latch clicks in place. Replace the vacuum hose on the top and your done.
