I just finished partially building a setup from scrap parts. The straps will eventually be replaced with rope and a block and tackle setup. Instead of hooks, I used some 2x4ās wrapped up with sections of a worn out moving blanket.
Just throwing this out there as a possible scenario: how much oil do you have in your intake coming from the PCV valve?
I used to get an occasional ping or knock until a catch can was installed. The miss might be the computer trying to compensate for the bad burning of the gas/oil mixture in...
I should have specified that the sensors are not part of the auto headlight control, but part of the package that also includes ACC and parksense. It sounded like the plan was to change out the bumpers for the overlanding, so the sensors have to be taken into account, regardless of function.
And herein lies the double-edged sword. People are less attentive so they make nanny features, and the nanny features make people more inattentive.
Put down your phone, the latte, and the McGriddle, and pay attention to your damn driving!
Edit: In fairness, they arenāt bad features, Iām just...
I respectfully disagree. The ACC is only concerned with the distance in front of you - period.
If you have someone behind you when you get cut off, you can control the car accordingly and slow down enough to match speed. Then gradually increase distance between you. The ACC will try to maintain...
My 2024 Rubi came with the āautomatic emergency brakingā system. It was immediately set to āwarning only - active braking offā because it will randomly engage. I have been mentally keeping track of the different scenarios to try to detect a pattern.
So far, I have found this: If a car moves...
My wife insisted on having ACC, so we got it on her Subaru. The same situation happened to her a number of times, and it would slam on the brakes harder than it needed to do. Very jarring, and it caused a lot of horns and fingers to be directed at her.
She doesnāt use it as much, and I didnāt...
Iāll admit, I ām a bit biased against all the nanny crap. The auto headlight control lags before going to the brights, and dims when it shouldnāt. In the city, thatās not a big deal, but in the country with animals, itās a different story. The lag time could cause you to not see an animal...
Agreed. My reasoning for changing was for the viscosity when hot. IMHO, xW-20 is too light of an oil. Especially if the engine gets above normal operating temperature for any short period of time.
I will probably be switching to that oil too. The last time I took my used oil in for recycling, the guy who dumped it in the tank said that was noticeably the thinnest oil he had seen. 0w-20 oil from my wifeās Subaru.
In āthe old daysā that was true. However, these days with thinner oils and much thinner, low tension piston rings being used to extract every inch of mileage out of these engines, it has come to the point where they are needed.
If you think about it, a catch can is another air intake filter to...
When I replied to you earlier, JB was the first person who came to mind. Iām glad you saw the sarcasm. He really was good for a lot of laughs, and a lot of aggravation.
