That is the goal of the next-gen Wrangler (see the J70). I would be surprised if the JL hybrid update is a complete rip-and-replace. Happily surprised but still surprised.

The JL hybrid (aka 4xe) update is due in MY 2025. It'll most likely be a minor update. I was, however, explicitly talking about the REPB that's due in the 2028 J70, not the JL.

I don’t think anything will change until 2028 except maybe the price going up.

2024 just got the partial refresh, 2028 gets the full refresh. If you want something special, just wait till 2028. Otherwise I'd recommend a JK til then. These JL's are going downhill, unless of course you get an EcoDiesel. I blame the technology!

eTorque will replace the crappy ESS battery set-up. 35s will be available without buying a Rubi X. Half doors will be a thing. And you’ll be able to get a 2.0L turbo.

Oh wait, that was a couple of years ago. Now Jeep is going backward, so I would expect fewer options and higher prices.

why would you not want frameless windows? That’s like factory half doors.

And the reason why, a roll down rear window would be great also especially with SOT. But the windows have to fit in the doors/tailgate, impossible with the JL design.(except likely front doors)

A while back there were reports of an easily removable rear window in development for the JT that should also work for the JL. Nothing seen since. The lack of an easily removable rear window is the flaw in the SOT design IMHO.
Rear wheel wells would make Bronco like doors difficult without increasing wheelbase.

Frameless doors is the only thing you listed I didn't have issue with.

Both terrible ideas! Great for mall crawlers and pavement princesses, terrible for GP's

My next Wrangler will be a two-door JK with no heating and cooling, just as a Jeep should be!

If they ever made a barebones Wrangler, I might be interested, otherwise the company's heading in the wrong direction if you ask me!
