2020 with 3.6 auto. Stock suspension. Method wheels with 4.75" backspacing and MT 35x12.5x17 tires. Have a 23 JLURXR on the way and after seeing this thread, the JL may get the XR suspension. The amount of lift looks ideal with 35's.

Anyone know if the tie rod is a different part no. for the JL Recon vs. a standard Rubicon?

Love that you used the stock wheels. Did you add wheel spacers, and if so, what size? Also, what about the spare and use of tire relocator?
I ended up putting 1.2" Borne OffRoad (Mishimoto) forged hub-centric spacers on it. HUGE different in driving and look. Minimal outward move for the wheels, but it looks 100% better. Also, I'm going to put the tailgate reinforcement on it. I just need to wait until it warms up this Spring before tackling some more add-ons.

Did either you or #gregeast use wheel spacers after installing the lift/fender flares? Trying to get someone in the know (JLR 2-Door) who has a winch that is doing a 2-inch lift + fender flares with 35’s and whether the tires are even or wider than the flares….? I know it’s a super specific question. My apologies if it’s not relevant here…

Did you ever add the XR suspension to your JLR? If so, how much lift did you gain, did it include more than springs and shocks, and how do you like the ride? How did your stock JLR perform with the 35s?

I ended up installing the Mopar 2" lift. That, combined with 35's, fender flares, and 1.2" Borne Offroad (Mishimoto's Offroad Brand) forged wheel spacers put it right into what I want. It's not an exact XR with the lift and JLR OEM wheels, but it rides exceptionally well.

I did put a 3/4" front shock spacer on to keep it from drooping with the Warn Zeon 10S. It went down 3/4" on the original non-lifted stock setup initially (in about 8 months it drooped 3/4"). This time I did it ahead of time not knowing if it'd droop again. 35" spare on the back probably would have done the job too....might not have needed the front shock spacer.

Off road it's even better. The Fox shocks are certainly an upgrade in ride. BUT....lifting it, even just a bit means less stabilization. I also ended up putting on a Fox steering stabilizer. That helped a bit.

The stock JLR with 35's and no lift performed very well. Not much more wandering than the factory setup. But....you risk rubbing during offroad (tons on this in the threads).

Thanks. Just for fun I put my JLR on 3” blocks today. Definitely different, especially getting out - I basically had to hop. My wife certainly did not like it. We are both in our early 70s and not tall. We have had big jeeps, including a JKUR with 35s and a JTR with 37s. We both really like the way the JLR rides and since we do only easy to moderate trails I think I am going to keep it stock for the foreseeable future. If anything I may go with a 35x11.5 or a 285 75 with no lift or at max a 1” to 1 and 1/2 spacer lift. Thanks again.

The 23 JLURXR is still on order. The stock 20 JLR works great on and offroad with 35's. Have wheeled it quite a bit and hasn't rubbed.

Thanks. What are your 35s? Some guy told me I could run 35x11.5 with only very minor rubbing off road. The problem. As I recall, is that very few manufacturers make this size. Thanks again.

This is consistent with my experience having had 35s no lift on my JLR. Slight rubbing in rear upper fender at full flex.

Nitto TrailGrapplers and Toyo ATIIIs (I believe) are the two tires I am aware of that come in 35x11.5r17s.

Wondering how the rear pinion angle look like on the XR package?
My JLR installed a 2.5 lift but the pinion went high, had to use adjustable rear upper control arm to offset. Then the rear coils started bowing forward

I’m considering installation of the XR suspension parts on my two door JLR, as OP and others have done. My question is, has anyone found it necessary to install an adjustable track bar to achieve proper wheel alignment?

Thanks,

Warren

No. I used both track bars, all 4 sway links, shocks, and springs from the XR, as well as all 8 control arms. Many have said on the forum that the control arms are the same with the exception of the LCA and have suggested purchasing the Mopar LCA. I did not. I visually inspected and noted that the LCA from the XR are slightly longer than the stock LCA on my JLWillys. My shop suggested I use all 8 control arms since I had them despite whether they were the same, but I can assure you that the LCA on the XR is longer and there is no need for the Mopar LCA, or an adjustable track bar for that matter. The only thing I ended adding were front and rear bumpstops and because of the added weight from my front skid plate, steel bumper and winch, after settling i ended up getting a 1.75" rake so I added a Tereflex 1" coil spacer.

Pls give an update if you decide to add the X-R suspension to your JLR. I have though about doing that for my JLR also. Do you know how much lifft you will add by doing this? Are you thinking of doing it so you can comfortably run 35s?
