Still waiting for Jeep to offer the XTreme Recon Package on the 2-Door Rubicon. Anybody have any info on if or when Jeep might offer this?

If they could do this I have a feeling they would have done it already.

Something tells me it has to do with the 96" wheel base. There may be certain factory safety standards that prevents them from from offering a higher suspension with larger tires in the current JLs configuration. It may fail the crash and roll over standards.

I'm only speculating. I could be completely wrong. But for example the 2 door Broncos wheelbase is 100 inches. So they can get away with offering the Sasquatch package and it passes the tests. Maybe that 100 inches is magic number to be able to allow a package like that.

If that's the case Jeep may offer a longer wheelbase 2 door in the next generation Wrangler. Or they may not since the 2 door is a very small % of their sales. Only time will tell.

Jeep made an Extreme Recon package for the 2-door JK Rubicon. I owned one. It didn't come with 35s. But if you installed the Mopar high clearance fenders you could run 35s on stock suspension. I did so at Moab for years with no changes to the stock suspension and no problems. There is absolutely nothing "unsafe" about a 2-door Recon package. Jeep just doesn't sell enough 2-doors anymore to have interest in offering the package.

No, Jeep sells too many 4-doors to care about offering anything interesting on the 2-door. At this point we should thank god they even continue to sell them at all.

Tell that to their attorneys.

XTreme Recon? Won't happen. Based on the limited # of available models compared to the Unlimited, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2-door is a loss leader (or close to it). Jeep likely keeps the 2-door around for marketing purposes since they look much cooler than the Unlimited :).

And can list the most inexpensive model to show that Jeeps are affordable. That's probably the Sport with manual transmission, locks and windows, and no A/C, which I doubt exists.

I was excited when the 24 order guides came out because 35's were supposed to be standard on the Rubicon X 4 cylinder (not that I wanted the 4 cylinder, but I was willing to take the 4 cylinder to get 35's from the factory), but AFAIK, it never happened....

If every Jeep is to be electric/hybrid by 2025, and the electric/hybrid doesn’t fit in the two door. How is the future of the 2 door looking ?

“this means that the brand will offer 4xe plug-in hybrid versions of its existing models by 2025”
