Looking to put a small RTT on top of a Maximus-3 two door rack. Looking for a minimal footprint since it’s just me (no other humans or animals) and placing the spare on the floor to help improve CoG. Want something small and lightweight.

I found these two small guys. Wonder if anyone has experience with either one or can recommend other small RTTs for a two door.

I have the Freespirit Recreation 49” and I can tell you it’s great. It’s a lot more room than you’d expect, the quality is top notch and if you get the 3 season version with the liner, you’ll be set for the fall/spring. I’m extremely happy with mine. The mattress is “okay” but I’ll probably be adding a topper eventually. Set up and packing it away are a breeze.
The led strip and boot bags are a nice touch.

I’ll also mention their customer service is outstanding. Every question I had prior to purchase was answered very frankly.

Thank you! What rack did you to mate to the Freespirit? Also want an RTT that mounts to the Maximus-3 with minimal drama.

I looked at the Maximus-3 and the Frontrunner Slimline II Extreme. I ended up with the Frontrunner and I’m very happy with it. It mounts similar to the way the Maximus-3 (drilling is required) but TO ME, the Frontrunner seemed a little more straightforward to install.
it went on without problem and I’ve had zero issues.

I’ll also say that Frontrunner has outstanding customer service. Lots of questions from me and lots of good answers from them.

I have the skycamp mini on my 4 door. It is certainly well designed with quality materials. Weighs 125lb. Looks great on the Jeep. Can fit two people and dog easily. Ease of setup and take down are extremely easy. No more than 1-2 minutes. The mattress is very firm. I will probably change at some point. Cannot leave bedding inside. The accessories they sell are well integrated into the tent and look to be high quality as well. I have it on a rhino rack pioneer platform. Can’t comment about customer service since I purchased it from Rhino Adventure Gear down in Southern California. They are great to work with.

Nice! What rack did you install and did you need any special hardware to mount the sky camp mini?

I used the rhino rack pioneer platform rack. I did not need any special hardware. The tent is a good fit for the rack and it mounts centered without having to drill any additional holes. I would recommend the brackets with locks for extra security.
