I apologize if this has been discussed elsewhere but while I wait for my 22 to go through the shipping phase, I’m curious if anyone knows if they used the standard control arms or the longer ones to accommodate the geometry with the additional lift?

Good thread on LCA's here. I got a lot from it. Got my JLUR XR a few weeks ago and just had the LCAs replaced today. Definitely tracks better.

Yeah I read that one throughout but what I wasn’t sure was if FCA had opted to use the longer control arms in the XR setup or not. I know they used longer sway bar links, relocated the rear track bar higher for instance, and obviously added the flare extensions to accommodate DOT requirements. While the major benefits of the XR package are clearly spelled out, unless one was to compare every part number, most would go unnoticed.

Definitely need to swap the LCA's. I've been lagging on doing it and need to jump on it, heard it makes a good difference.

Wait, i just heard the upper arms are longer than the Rubi.
Has anyone else confirmed this? longer uppers would make the caster worse. They would have to be shorter to fix the caster.

For the passenger side, the PN for the UCA is 68461228AA. I have the XR Package Not sure If that helps you figure out a difference.

I just put in Lower Control arms from a Mopar 2” lift, to bump up the caster. According to the Mopar parts diagrams the 2” Mopar lift does not include uppers, only lower control arms. My factory XR LCA are the same part number as a regular Rubicon and every other Wrangler JL.

I changed my LCAs the first couple of weeks after I bought it. It does indeed track better.

Just had my alignment checked on mine. I did the Mopar LCAs and after adding steel bumper and winch I put in 1.5 inch spacers on the front. My caster today was measured at 4.3 left and 4.6 right. Wish it was a little more but I'm not going to bother with adjustables, at least not yet.

the logical explanation on what jeep did is that they did not change the control arms
because they didn't need to be changed. As opposed to end links, etc etc

Thanks for the update I will likely add MC Geo Correction brackets later once I get the front end up a bit more. 214lbs of bumper and winch dropped the 2.5” springs pretty good.

That is the truth. The XR front housing may have had a bit more caster built in for the Mojave application so the 1.5” lift was still in spec without going to different control arms.

The stock LCA on my Willys were clearly shorter than the stock LCA from the XR takeoffs I replaced them with. My Willys tracks perfectly.
