How would a spacer Increase distance of travel to the bump stop? I understand that would fix rake for approach and break over angles.
The suspension's range is generally dictated by the shock compressed-to-extended length. Ride height is somewhere in the middle of the shock's stroke, ideally in the middle 1/3 but the XR is likely in the top 1/3. Bump stops are used to keep the shock from bottoming out (or tire-to-fender/axle-to-frame/etc.) Changing springs or adding spacers only changes ride height.

I spent $120 total on a 1.5" front spacer and a .75" rear spacer. I plan on adding a winch to the front so I wanted some extra height for when it sags. Will post pics once they come in and I get them installed.

And you probably won't need to do that until you start adding weight up front (steel bumper, winch).
Id do it anyway. Theres no uptravel there stock. Sure you arent touching the rubber bumpstop thing but you are pretty darn close. Ride quality must be shit.

As far as I can tell, the only downside to putting a spacer lift on an otherwise stock XR is the caster angle is now even more extreme, only to be solved by longer LCAs or geo correction brackets... anything else I'm missing?

Possible warranty issues.

So what I am hearing is a spacer level kit is only way to fix without needing the full swap because of alignment. Is there a space lift kit that also helps level or does that require the LCA replacement? So my secondary question would be, Did the base rubicon with metal bumper have this problem when a winch was added? If the answer is no. I am very disappointed with XR package to have it capable with becoming basic image of a jeep.

I forgot to actually measure, but i looked and didn't notice any more than maybe 1/8" - 1/4" when i added a winch on my factory steel bumper. I also removed the bumper endcaps.

You don't have any bump stop issues wheeling?

Even though the $42 Teraflex Eco-Diesel spacers largely solved my bump stop/up-travel issue, I have now gone way overboard with a 3.5 inch Teraflex CT3 lift and Falcon shocks. Went ahead and upgraded the steering while it was apart. Surprisingly with only 4,000 miles, I already had a little slop at the pitman arm. Now it flexes like I had hoped! Left it on 35s for now. Maybe toss on some 37s when these wear out.

Looks good. May want to check if additional bump stop required on front not to destroy your shocks ?‍♂

They are listed as long enough for 2-4.5 inches of lift, hopefully I'll be alright.

That looks awesome. Any plans to upgrade the front driveshaft?

Referencing compressed length. Adding 3.5 lift, would think you need additional bump even though XR has extended.
