Tell me, does the US border service not stop vehicles going across the border into the US???? Why are they not catching the drugs etc.If you want to sanction these countries to clean up their drug enforcement I get it. But shouldn't the penalty be commensurate with the level of infraction?
Hopefully you don't believe everything you read. When I read your post I went to jeep.com, found the first Wrangler listed, and here's its window sticker. 64% of it is US / Canadian. No, not 74% American made. 18% from Mexico. I'm betting the other 18% is primarily from China.HELLO?
I only read 3 of seventeen pages, but I didn't see anyone comment that Jeep Wranglers are built in Toledo, Ohio, with mostly American made parts. One website I see indicates 74% American made parts. ( https://shunauto.com/article/are-jeep-wranglers-american-made )
Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't remember what my parts content was exactly, but 64% sounds about right.Hopefully you don't believe everything you read. Oh no you don't...Captain goes down with his ship.I'm starting to see the error of my ways...
Thinking I should have this thread closed before y'all get banned and take me with y'all because I created this unsanctimonious mess!![]()
I would be apt to say they're playing numbers games. I haven't ran into a mopar brand part I had to order that hasn't had a made in China sticker yet. Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't remember what my parts content was exactly, but 64% sounds about right.
Still, a Wrangler is about 2/3 American made, with 18% Mexico parts. Assuming a couple or few percent from Canada and China, that's still below 25% of parts subject to the new tariffs.
At bulk manufacturer prices, that will probably itself add maybe 2 or so of MSRP to the manufacturing cost.
This should only increase MSRP by maybe 3-4%. If they raised MSRP much more than 5%, they would be price gouging.

If the US expects Canada to stop drugs from going into their country should we not expect the US to stop drugs and millions of illegal firearms from coming into ours.
You’re missing the US/Canada. That means that the breakdown is 64% made in the US and Canada. Which means we don’t know the actual breakdown of parts made in Canada other than it’s up to 64%. Those same parts might move multiple times back and forth across the border. Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't remember what my parts content was exactly, but 64% sounds about right.

If you want to know the God's honest truth I'd like to Glass about half the world. Ever since the end of world war II America has essentially cornered the market on security in the world. Sure there have been wars and people have died and lots of people have died for that matter but overall global security I mean at no other point in human history has the world been this stable overall I mean stable enough for this whole global economy nonsense to get started right. Are you saying the guns and drugs are going from the US into Canada, or vice versa?
As to OPs original question, prices are going to go up. A lot. On everything. This is essentially just an additional tax put on top of consumer goods, which given how the global economy works, all have some form of parts content or final assembly outside the country. Businesses aren't going to eat that expense, we are. And for those thinking businesses are going to magically reestablish factories here, no. That takes years and years and years to do. And given our political flip flopping, in which I'm sure the next Democratic admin will remove a lot of these roadblocks, they are more likely to hedge bets than spend that type of money. And that doesn't even get into the retaliatory tariffs. That alone incentivizes businesses to keep their operations away from here so they can continue to sell at volume everywhere else in the world.
The "wins" the administration is claiming right now, like new EV factories and electronic chip factories, are from Biden era policies that incentivized those companies to do that.
Long post short, nobody wants to play nice with someone who is not. And right now, the US is not nice in the international scene.
What are you tired about, the American people have no stake in their security. We were at war for 20 years, tell me how that affected any American outside of the military? You abdicated your safety and never looked back. More importantly for your information, I served multiple tours with our allies from all over the world over the last 20 years. Those soldiers risked their lives for the wars where our country had been attacked. So maybe stfu.If you want to know the God's honest truth I'd like to Glass about half the world. We paid for all of that... Nobody else wants to pitch in why? Why should we be the responsible party every time why can't somebody else do something useful for once?
The British Navy used to be the most powerful navy in the world how come they've let themselves fall to the wayside and don't do anything useful anymore why aren't they patrolling off the coast of Africa or the South China Sea or any of that?
Oh sure they'll provide a token ship for a task force that we send but they won't send a flotilla and command the task force themselves.
Because they can't and you know why because they're lazy because America has been subsidizing the world's security for the last 80 years.
I'm tired boss I'm real tired.
So you think you're the only one here that was in the military and deployed overseas in the last 20 years really? My DD-214 is just as valid as yours. What are you tired about, the American people have no stake in their security. Obviously not, and your above comment cements that fact. The likely hood that you served in a combat environment over the last 50 years is highly unlikely, otherwise you wouldn’t be so cavalier when it comes to our allies. So you think you're the only one here that was in the military and deployed overseas in the last 20 years really? I wasn't going to bring it up but since you felt the need here we are.
