IOW, even in my oxygen deprived state, I was right. :giggle:

You posted to agitate instead of contributing, and when I asked you to explain, you didn’t. Instead you tried to agitate again by a personal attack.
You seem the only one agitated..again check oxygen levels.
I'm eating icecream in my pajamas, not arguing economic theory on a Jeep forum.

Good time to buy solar. I am looking to DIY a 4kw setup that will cut our bill in half, with battery backup. Room to expand for another 4kw in the future.
The worst that will happen is new cars become unaffordable and then all of our used ones go up in value. This is a win win. CEOs don't need multi million dollar parachutes, make better cars and compete.
Agreed. A DIY would be fun! We paid $27/month elec. avg in 2024, including 2,700 sun driven miles (Tesla M3 Performance) and energy for a 1800 sq ft ranch with AC, electric dryer, sump pump, several flat screens etc. We have a 10kW array (Enphase inverters with two 5P batteries). Has been flawless thus far. We have gas heat and stove. Monthly average for both gas + electric were $74 per month. Water is now our most expensive...trying to figure that out!

P.S. I considered building second parallel DIY system just for fun LOL.

Not agitated, just curious.

If you aren’t arguing economic theory, then why did you comment on my post at all?

Btw, is this you?

Nobody asked. And that's not a current justification to completely destroy the US auto industry or the Jeep brand. Thanks for playing.

For anyone paying attention this afternoon, US automakers were given a one-month reprieve from the tariffs. Kicking the can down the road...we'll have to resume what a disaster and disgrace this is, next month...
Was that a reply for my post? I'm just posting some facts related to the OP, not paying attention of what YOU have or haven't asked.

The market doesn't have appetite for that much rugged offroad vehicles and that's why the sales number is down. If there is zero tariff against China or Mexico and Jeep moves its factory to third world countries, I'm sure it will be SAVED. So will our auto industry if that's what you care.

May I suggest you switch to decaf, or come to Colorado where the air is thinner:LOL:

I’m not sure why you think Marie is justifying anything, she is just passing on information showing that its more than just the orange man that believes China is using unfair trade practices to destroy all of our industries.
I’ll bite …Nixon sold us all out on his China trip.
Never seen made in China before he visited, and Wall st would bomb US citizens before you kill the cash cow which is Chinese cheap labor.

The problem with Trump is that he is all bark and no bite. How many times are you going to cry wolf? Either tariff the hell out of our trading partners or not.

I'd argue the big 3 have so much authority in congress that they'll never see tariffs. Can will keep getting kicked until they're removed or exempted

Well, he tariffed the hell out of them two days ago. Only cars get a reprieve—for now. And that’s only on our side. Canada and Mexico may decide to tariff the hell out of cars coming from the US to punish these foolish actions.

Fired, unfired, cancelled, reinstated….This whole god damn thing is a soup sandwich with shit on top.

If the goal is to move manufacturing back to the US, what happens to all the plants in Mexico and Canada?

You don't pick up a manufacturing plant and move it. You abandon it and have to eat the loss. Then, you have to cough up the money to make a new plant, to the tune of billions/trillions of dollars. These can be 5-10 year endeavors, and someone has to pay for it.

Tell me how this is supposed to work in our favor, again?
Apolitical facts.

Forget that tariffs raise costs to consumers.

Forget that some domestic companies, helped by the tariffs when Americans are incentivized to buy American have to be counterbalanced by the loss of sales by companies to those nations we impose tariffs on when those nations retaliate with their own tariffs, making US goods more expensive in their markets.

What gets my goat is that Canada is being placed in the same boat as Mexico, citing the control of drugs across the border as reasons for sanctioning both with similar tariff levels. (Fairness disclosure, the auto industry was granted a 30 day exemption.)

Far and away, although not the only dangerous drug coming across these borders, controlling Fantanyl is the top priority, of which, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data, no joke 99.8% coming from these 2 countries is from Mexico, while 0.2% is from Canada.

Besides it's not that we need oil from Canada, or lumber to address our housing shortage, right?

If you want to sanction these countries to clean up their drug enforcement I get it. But shouldn't the penalty be commensurate with the level of infraction?

Obviously I don’t agree with the tariffs themselves or the stated reasons for levying them. Canada is being punished for something which doesn’t seem to apply even remotely, and that makes me think this really isn’t about immigration or fentanyl at all… However, when viewed as an inside job targeting the North American auto industry and our economic output as a whole, well…
