What would you expect for a used 2025 vehicle? You can get 3k back on a new one now along with 0% for 72 months.....I know you were for 'giggles' but what did you expect for a used 2025?
Where did you see that? The current offer is 6.9% for 72 months. In fact, they don't even have the 0% 36 month deal that I got last year.

Consider likewise the baggage that Carvana itself has been carrying.

From the linked article:

"Carvana’s business already faces major headwinds. Used vehicle prices have declined 20.3% in the past 3 years, according to the Manheim Price Index. Subprime auto loan delinquencies are now higher than during the Global Financial Crisis, per Fitch."

There's also the shadow that hovers over the sale of a new vehicle by its original owner so soon after purchase.
This plus, 2026 are available now or soon, they assume you want the heck out NOW and also lowballing the **** ouf of you. Carvana all of those type dealers are vultures IME....sometimes more so than the regular dealers.

Long story but will keep it as short as I can.

I have a 2025 Jeep Wrangler 2 Door, Extreme Recon Package. Joose. Sticker was $54k, paid mid 40's. Did a Carvana quote for giggles and then quoted me $23, 200 for it. It has 2500 miles and was bought just 3 months ago. This is CRAZY! This is $31k under sticker and about $20k less than I paid 3 months ago. Is Jeep resale really this bad nowadays? I even had to do a manual estimate and speak with someone at Carvana as it was so new. No damage, no issues, even had it serviced already.

1. Check Kelly Blue Book and have them send you a written offer. The written offer will approximately equal current wholesale value.
2. Search Auto Trader for your vehicle with a few variations to make sure you get a good return. Check other metros your are willing to drive to.
3. Do the same on FB Marketplace.
4. Hit your closest Carmaxx for a written offer.
5. Decide if the current depressed price market (cars, houses) is the climate within which you REALLY REALLY want to sell.

Your Jeep lost 80% of that the moment you drove it off the car lot mate. The other 20% is negotiable margin reserve.

Remember that's wholesale. They want to make 10k on it.
I don't know why anyone thinks they are getting top dollar from carvana, carmax, or any other dealer. They have to resale it and still turn a profit. The only way that works is if they pay you less than it's worth. Sure if you are willing to trade some money for convenience it's a viable option and having to deal with potential buyers is annoying at best, but you'll never get what the vehicle is worth from a reseller.

Interesting comparison between feminine body hair and crank windows. As a man who started driving and dating when most cars still had crank windows standard, I can assure you there is no correlation. Lol.
Well....you get the rustic style (hairy and cranky) or you get the chic style (electrically depilated and operated). Seem correlated, no? :)

This is true. I have been shopping Willys XR the past couple weeks, Carvana made me the best offer, dealers are $1k-6k under that. I decided to wait and buy one used in a couple years like I did with this one. Best bang for buck IMO. Trading in gets you a tax advantage, that's about it.

I remember all the threads here in late 2020 to mid 2021 about the crazy prices that were being paid by Carmax, Carvana, etc. By 2022, Jeep was catching up to customer demand. By 2023 lots were filling again, and the days of flipping a new Wrangler for profit were done

People were ordering Wranglers and selling them within a few months for thousands more than they paid. We had an influx of Euro car bros coming to this site bragging about their flipping skills. Like all bubbles, they burst.

The law of supply and demand is simple, and applies to all goods and services. With it being 4 years past when everyone and their dog was buying a Wrangler, and there were none to be found on dealer lots, we are at the 3-5 year common trade in point for that massive sales wave. In other words, current used values are still a result of the Covid bubble. It’ll still take another couple years for Wrangler values to stabilize.

As those used Wranglers from the bubble begin to be traded, many of those owners trading wont opt for another. A lot of those Wranglers were bought on a whim. Many buyers weren’t working, and quite a few were getting stimulus checks. People were looking for fun in a terribly depressed time. So they bought the impractical, but fun Wrangler. A vehicle many want, but no one needs.

I got to flip a wrong order in 22(missing a bunch of stuff). Kept it and reordered. Got stupid money for a 16 and sold the wrong order for $10k over sticker. Nobody had the patience to order. Crazy people were willing to pay $10-12k over sticker instead of waiting 12-16weeks. It was the best of times. Only down side was rates went from 1.9 in January to 3.25 by May. The shock today is the depreciation. Wranglers have never seen anything like this blood bath. GAP insurance was a waste of money for any Wrangler until 2022/23

Some folks might have a bit of difficultly, or unwillingness, to forget the skewed vehicle valuations that occurred during the covid times.

E.g., in mid-2021, Carvana offered me $5K more than the sticker price of my JLU when the vehicle was already 8 months old.

I knew that was a temporary distortion, and anyway, I had no intention of grabbing the cash that would've been instantly exhausted when I had to replace the Jeep.

It was easy enough to order one at a significant discount. It just required patience.
