I know it’s odd topic but does any one else wish the widows were auto down and up? I do.

Auto up is not allowed. Appendages may get stuck. Kids, pets, and dumb adults.

Not quite true, as auto up features do exist. They have safety measures built in that reverse when the window encounters resistance.

Exactly, and if you read the article, Auto Up or Express Up is available. They simply changed the regulations to say you have to physically pull a switch "up" to engage the Express Up feature rather than having it exist on a downward push or toggle that would allow a child/animal to accidentally step/press on a button.

Express Up requires a simple pull upwards (and then letting go) of an Express Up switch, which will allow the window to go up the rest of the way on it's own. As mentioned, there have to be safeguards in the circuitry that allow the window to reverse if it's path is blocked.

Thanks for justifying that Express Up is available.

*update* Now the rubber button is deteriorating as well. I am well out of warranty but I guess Jeep pulled a fast one on us with lowest cost parts on our high cost Jeeps.

Probably from something on the fingers, hand sanitizer would be a possible culprit.

Maybe from food you're eating in vehicle? Here's mine at 127K. I didn't even notice what they looked until i took the photo. I use them regularly. Pretty modest wear. Your finger chemistry might be stronger than others.

People who use lotions tend to wear the buttons quicker. I believe it's the alcohol in them. At least that's what GM told us.

Not looking for a reason why. In this day and age and for the money we spend, it should not be an issue. I have a 2006 Scion XB that never had this issue so it is a quality problem. That is all.
