I see others have had a window fly off on the interstate. Mine was my back left window and it hit another car and dented it. I was just glad no one got hurt and it wasn't a motorcyclist I did retrieve my window it was scratched but still intact. I was an hour or so in my route on the interstate. It just made a loud pop and was gone. I took this to the dealer and they said they've never heard of that happening and my windows were on secure and it was a fluke ... but I see here it has happened to others.
Any suggestions? I am nervous to road trip this summer on the interstate again. Any advice would be appreciated.

I haven’t heard of this happening before, do you have the SOT top with removable rear windows or the regular hardtop?

Take a close look at the 'slot' the piping goes into on the top of the window. Over time and use sometimes that 'slot' opens up more than it should esp at the ends.

I read about this last year, someone coming from California to Moab. I helped them find a window in Kansan Utah. Been terrified mine will come off ever since.

If the windows are in place with the sundrider open or the main windows down it will rattle badly with the air movement inside the Jeep. I don't trust mine on the highway to not pop out. It's either rear windows off, or close up the Jeep for those highway miles.

If everything was closed then the window wasn't tucked in properly or the track at the top is really worn.

This is a well-documented issue, even if it hasn't happened to a plurality of soft top owners.

Post #200 suggests a DIY retention fix that might be worth consideration.

Yes, it is critical for the owner to have the side windows properly installed. Correct seating (alignment) of the vertical corner stiffener panels isn't immediately intuitive, either.

I do like the soft top but mine has started falling apart. The windows went to shit long time ago and i hate putting them on. Plus wranglers look killer with no top at all. Just need a mesh top and a rain cover. Zip code dependent of course lol

What year is your Jeep? They made a change to the window tabs to help secure them better. I have a 2021 and they're green. I believe the earlier ones were white and weren't as large.

I've a 2021 JLU soft top, with the original [pointed] white upper guide pieces. Yes, an amended design was introduced (the green ones), but at what exact point I can't say. Mine is an early production '21, built in October 2020.
