Changing my vote from still going strong to within 36 months. Went in to dealer to look at my auto stop/start battery (not charging) and they found that my main battery was actually very weak. Replaced under warranty. Also had my PCM checked for the recall. Everything is fine

Nearly 50% had to replace in 3 years or less. This just shows OEM batteries suck, and it is not limited to or necessarily related to the JL's electrical system setup (ESS, Etorque, etc.). I've never known OEM batteries to go much beyond 3 years. The original in my JK certainly did not.

I replaced mine at 38 months as a preventative measure. It and the aux battery were both fine when swapped out, but I wasn't taking the chance.

I disconnected the ASS battery within the first 12 months, but kept doing maintenance charges on it every month or so, intending to use it as an emergency jump. But, the ASS battery still fully failed within the 24 month mark. Now it waits for me to take it out permanently.

The main battery failed at almost 36 months. I had noticed that the charging voltage was not coming down like usual, then one day it just refused to crank. I replaced it with a Costco battery.

Main battery just became ineffective. It died on me today at the Red Bull Grand Prix MotoGP at COTA. I received a jump from the COTA folks and made my way to Autozone to pick up a Duralast Platinum H6-AGM for the main battery. I have not replaced the aux battery yet, but will likely be shopping for one.

My stock battery lasted for 40 months. I live and drive regularly in Houston, TX (extreme temperatures). I’m pleased with the longevity of the stock main battery.

I need to have my aux battery checked as well. Also, I’m a few hundred miles shy of 50k miles on the jeep.
welp…back again. Right after I replaced my oem main batt w/Duralast Platinum H6-AGM battery, a few weeks later I went down on my motorcycle and wasnt able to have my aux battery replaced. I wasn’t able to drive my jeep until January (due to broken ankle). I did have my dad crank the jeep weekly…thought that would help keep it charged.

i’ve since been driving it rather regularly and yesterday it wouldn’t crank. It’s been 5 months since the main replacement. This is unacceptable. So now I’m wondering if I have an alternator problem or if the aux battery has been dead all this time, not assisting with the cranking? AAA mobile will check both batteries and indicate the issue.

I’ll post back here when I have some answers. However, I feel like I need to have my alternator checked. I’ve just hit 56k miles but I have an extended warranty, so the alternator should be covered to my knowledge.

The Auxiliary battery is a parasite in the sense that it'll drain your main battery once it goes bad/needs a charge. I really doubt you have a problem with your alternator and it's unlikely AAA can or knows how to check your Auxiliary.

Either replace or delete the Auxiliary, make sure your Main battery is charged and you should be good to go for a while.

OMGOODNESS. I wasn’t aware the aux will drain the main battery. I’ve just seen a YT vid on how to replace the aux. Once AAA indicates I need a charge or a new battery, I’ll handle that and remove the aux battery myself. If it legit has no other purpose, then it needs to go.

Question: will a warning light come on if the aux battery is removed? I ask because I know it’s supposed to “assist” with the start/stop feature (which I disable each timeI crank the jeep).

Thanks so much! ??

I was lucky. My original batteries lasted past the 3 year mark. I got around 41 months. Replaced both with die hard AGM.

A warning light will come on, yes. It's yellow and looks like the @ sign. It'll pop up on the digital display. You can either bypass the Aux linked below or deal with the light. A Tazer might be able to remove that light, too. If you don't use ESS at all, which I didn't either, it's better to just not have the auxiliary. It's extra $$$ and complication for no benefits then.

12 months and 5 days with 3.6 eTorque. Been fine, I've had batteries die in vehicles less than a week after purchasing so you never can be sure how long they are going to last.

On a side note, I read that a local ammo manufacture here in Minnesota, Federal, gets most of their lead for bullets from recycled car batteries. When all those 4Xe's need new batteries it's going to be a huge shot in the arm for the currnent ammo shortage. ?

16 months with the 3.6 eTorque. Going strong, but I won't let it get past 3 years before I put in the Odyssey 48.
