I’m curious about when you had to replace your original battery (if you have already). Did it fail prematurely? Have you replaced it preemptively before it began to fail? Tell me your battery story.

As a 2018 2.0T owner, I'm subscribed. I just hit 20K miles and don't want this thing to die on me somewhere. Didn't I read on here that the etorque batteries are covered under the powertrain warranty?

Further, as part of the Basic Limited Warranty, the Federal Emission Warranty covers the following parts of the Jeep eTorque system for eight years/80,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Only 33k miles & ~1.5 years since we bought it brand new.. 19 Sahara 2.0 w/eTorque and it only came with the 600cca battery. It didn’t sit much. lol

No warning. Went out one morning and it was deader than a door nail.

Build date was in July ‘19. Purchased in Oct ‘19.

Mine died at approximately 36 months after assembly, notwithstanding the Jeep had only 6,000 miles at the time.

PS - because when the battery dies depends on how long we’ve owned the Jeep, the poll above needs to take into account how long we’ve owned our Jeeps to provide accurate results.

12v battery was toast by 3/2021

So it lasted about 22 months and 11k

I replaced my batteries with the Genesis kit not long ago, but the OEMs were still going at 36 months. I did have one instance where the battery had drained about 4 months into ownership, causing me to need a jump in my garage, but it never happened again. I never figured out what caused that, though I suspect the uconnect somehow got stuck in "awake" state. The Jeep had been parked for about a week.

Since then I have had several times where it had been parked for days or even longer (esp in the initial covid lockdowns last year), and still had not had an issue.

Mine is too new to be a useful example. But I did want to add this - batteries do not last like they used to, just in general. It used to be that 5 years was the expected lifespan of a 12v car battery, and many of the good ones had full replacement warranties even beyond 5 years. But now 3 years seems to be the max lifetime you should expect to see from your battery, and the best warranties are pro-rated at that point.

It's a combination of cost cutting causing lower quality products and vehicles continually demanding more and more from their batteries. Two opposing forces growing stronger with each generation.

Yup. According to posts elsewhere, in some instances FCA furnishes a battery barely strong enough to drive the Jeep off the dealer lot, that’s it.

My main battery is still chugging along at 35K miles and 3 years. My beloved autostart battery died within the first year and was replaced under warranty. I did not even realize it had died but noticed the Jeep was no longer shutting down at traffic lights. It got replaced by the dealer when I had an oil change and I did not know about it till I got it back. I wish they'd just left it alone.

My Wrangler is only 6 months old, so no battery issues yet.

BUT...

The battery on my 2017 Renegade Trailhawk died at almost exactly 48 months. Gave no warning whatsoever that it was getting weak. It just plain died when it went.
