I have run Badland winches on all my Jeeps. Both the ZXR and APEX versions. No failures to date. Last time I used my APEX was to recover a full size 3/4 ton work van loaded with granite household countertops that was buried in mud 90 feet from pavement. I sent the winch line out all the way, then added a 30 ft strap to reach the van. The Badland 12k APEX winch struggled a little but never stopped pulling. The guy was in a hurry because he was late for his next job so I didn't even give the winch a break. Just did a constant pull for 90 feet. Winch never gave up.

People can say what they want, but Warn is over-rated and I can buy THREE to four Badland winches for the price of a Warn and they've never let me down yet.

It's great that we have options. I bought a chinese made ProEagle jack and a chinese made hydraulic strut jack. I'm thinking some of the Teraflex parts on my Jeep are chinese. I know the Icon wheels I have are chinese, but then most wheels are. Even ARB sells a lot of chinese stuff.

I also have the Badlands apex 12k(7 months now) but it’s mounted in its box on my garage floor. Still looking for a decent priced bumper that I want to mount on my jeep. Heavily considering the @CavFab_mfg vantage front bumper. It’s beautiful!

I can’t watch his videos. His voice reminds me of this cheerleader I dated in high school. She talked so fast in such a shrill voice I finally couldn’t take it anymore. Maybe PTSD. I have used settings to slow his voice down to a normal speed if I was really interested, Not sure why these threads devolve into fuck Warn and fuck Harbor Freight but it seems like they always do,
I don’t understand how he (PF) can talk so damn fast but take forever to get to the point. He is as annoying as Ben Hardy always telling everyone certain brands are going out of business just because his local dealership has a lot of inventory.

Warn Evo 12S. Had Warn "forever" and on sale plus a lifetime warranty the cost was not a lot higher than HF and other winches. Debated hard about a Xeon but don't use it enough to justify the extra cost and weight. Had it about three years now, no problems.

I'd think Matt would be an expert at making a HF winch more reliable and waterproof.
Meanwhile while working in the shop, Matt discovers yet another dead winch…
<mutters quietly under his breath> “Frickin’ Harbor Freight”
<loudly over shop background noise> “Hey Rhett! Grab me another winch off that pallet!”
<in a hushed voice> Uh Cody…please edit out the “F” word, I shouldn’t say frickin’ “
<looks toward camera one smiling>” I love these winches and so should you!”

Warn EVO-10s and a Badland Apex 12k.

Chinese manufacturing completely depends on the price point and quality requested from the brand.

They have some of the best manufacturing in the world and also produce some of the cheapest garbage in the world.

iPhones are mostly produced in China and regardless if anyone specifically has one, I have never heard of anyone complaining about their quality.

Every winch on the market that I don’t buy sucks hind titty. Everyone who doesn’t buy the winch I buy also sucks hind titty, is an idiot, and is doomed to being stranded deep in the middle of nowhere and will become a Darwin Award winner - because they didn’t buy the winch I buy.

There. I said it for all y’all.😁

Used it only twice so far, it did the job both times. First to move a boulder so my brother could get his Taco up the trail, next to rescuse a stuck SxS. Never pulled my jeep out or up with it. The trick is to not get stuck, and to clean all the obstacles you put tires on 😜

I have had my 24 JL Willy’s for about a year and change. I wanted a real bumper and not the plastic as well as a winch. I ended up getting the same Apex 12k badlands. The bumper I chose was the Tyger Auto stubb. For 299. I had enough saved to buy a better bumper no winch but after researching the thickness and quality seemed to be there for me.

Right on! On Thursday I ended up purchasing the @CavFab_mfg crawler series front bumper, skid plate and micro series rear bumper. From previous talks with them the badlands apex 12k should fit. I’m pretty stoked!
