If you re-gear you may be running the same rpm’s in 8th that you were running in 7th. Seems like a waste of money.

The computer knows how to get the best mileage. 8th is only good for when the computer thinks it can be more economical. Being in 7th is nothing to worry about it. I had a rental for a few days on a trip, and on flat ground and no headwind it would be in 8th, but the slightest incline, or head wind, it dropped to a better gear. I have a manual, so I had to learn the powerband to drive it properly. I have it down now, and the top gears are for mileage when possible.

Sounds like the dislike of the vehicle is caused by SELF INFLICTION. It's not the vehicles fault. The OWNERS FAULT. So posting what you hate is actually funny.

My Rubicon doesn't have that issue.
Im new to the wrangler world, common sense to me that the wrangler should use 8 gears but if most owners is having such a thing, I dont mind having it and i think its okay. I dont think its my fault also or the wrangler fault lol i love the lift and tires and dont mind staying on the 7th

Sultan, I too have a Sport, and I too recently put 285/70/17s on. They are 33” and do not require regearing. I went back to the dealership and had them change the parameters in the computer so it knows I have 33s. I see 8th gear at 97 KPH. Also, over time your Jeep computer “learns” and becomes more efficient.
Curious as a new jeep owner who just put 33's on, what psi are you running in yours?

I aired them down while warm to 31 PSI, for on-road travel.

I just want to point out again that 33s on a Sport with 3.45:1 is perfectly fine. I know this because I’m running them on my 2018 Sport on and off road with zero issues, and no appreciable change in MPG. I’m not against re-gearing - just make sure it’s for the right reasons.
Do you experience any rubbing off-road with no lift?

Hello,

So I own a jlu sport with 2” mopar lift with 33” tiers and pro comp wheels 17x9

What I really hate is when im driving 140 the is stays on the 7th... so i bought the car to use the 8 gears not only 7 :(

any ideas how can i fix this.. I want to keep my lift cuz i love it... would it be fixed if I added a bit more power to the car? Such as an intake + Muffler?
Right now, your 7th gear total ratio is almost equal to a Rubicon's total 8th gear ratio.

Axle ratio x differential ratio = total ratio
Your 7th gear: 3.43 x 0.84 = 2.88:1
Rubicon 8th gear: 4.10 x 0.67 = 2.75:1
Rubicon 7th gear: 4.10 x 0.84 = 3.44:1

thanks, definitely need to take some air out of mine! Did the dealer charge you to put in the new tire specs?
Sorry, I missed your post. Yes, I was charged $75.

Damn JLUR, no steering problem (haven't had recall done), radio works great, 2.0 is peppy and responsive, comfortable seats, no broken windshield, and so much fun to drive. Wish something would happen so I could come on here to bitch about it.
