Firstly, I have NO affiliation to this company, autostop eliminator. I was going to purchase a different brand for $149.00, on sale for $129.00, but of course I live in Cali so they wouldn't ship it to me: Socialist bleep bleeps. I didn't give up and found this autostop eliminator for $99.00, but if you use the code it is $89.00. Trust me, it sounded too good to be true so I opened the packaging very carefully for an easy ship back. I don't remember the discount code but do a google search and you will find it.
I got the autostop eliminator and probably 6 minutes later I was done with the install. So, does it work...heck yeah. Whatever position you last had your button in, when you restart it goes back to that same setting. On my Jeep Wrangler I popped the panel off below the steering column and there was the plug. Unplugged it, plugged the unit in, plugged the other side into what you disconnected, wire tied it to the wiring bundle and done.
This does 2 things. With the newer vehicles, you are supposed to run SN plus oil. My oil is 5W30 SN Plus. The special oil is because mostly on start and the constant restarts, there is what is called LPSI. It is a pre-ignition problem where the piston hasn't reached close enough to the top of the stroke and the fuel fires and tries to push the piston back down rather than around. Over time, this LPSI will cause serious issues in your engine...probably after your warranty has expired...of course. By installing and setting this autostop eliminator, the special oil is not necessary because your engine is not constantly restarting, where the greatest amount of pre ignition will occur.
I considered the hack methods, like unplugging the hood not latched button. All of these hacks leave you with a dash light on. I hate dash light warnings as much as the constant restarting so I didn't want to go that route.
If you hate autostop...and you should just for the engines sake, check this baby out. I only drove it to check it out but it worked exactly as advertised. Now I never have to remember to press the stupid button again. https://www.autostopeliminator.com/
