I have been wanting to ask this question for a while and no time is better than the present. If jeep only sold 3 engines in the wrangler what would be the 3 you would want to be available. Let's assume all can be optioned with the 6 speed manual and the 8 speed automatic. My 3 would be the Eco Diesel, the 5.7 hemi and the hurricane High Output. If you think I missed any notable options please let me know and I will add them. Thanks!

EDIT: It would be interesting to hear your reasoning for your choices. If you would like please tell us about why you chose what you did.

No Pentstar Pentastar-based REPB? ICE-based engine powering multiple motors with 100% of your torque available at 0 RPM and 600+ miles of range? No transmission, drive shafts, transfer case, and possibly lockers (depending on the number of motors). That combo will have 663 hp and 615 lb ft of torque in the Ramcharger.

It has the possibility of being an absolute beast. I'll take some flavor of a Hurricane while we wait.

With my '21 two door Willys in mind, I chose the 5.7L Hemi and would want a 6MT. The V8 would complete the "fun to drive" factor. The 5.7 has plenty of power for the job at hand and the 5.7 would obviously drop right in.

#2 would be some sort of diesel, and the 3.0 Hurricane should be the "economy" option.

Could be a game changer, especially after the high performance solid state batteries ( 27-28 per Toyota) further increasing range with faster charging and lighter.

While the big / powerfull engines are fun, you have to have at least one basic option to try and keep the price down. I have the 3.6 with no e torgue. Not the fastest, but it's reliable, gets decent mileage, and allowed me to get my Jeep for under $40k

Any engine that wouldn’t have stop start preferable the I6, no turbos.
I-6 without turbos? They're a fundamental part of the design such that the turbo-specific exhaust manifold is integrated with the cylinder head. Good luck on them neutering it like that.

I picked the ICE-only 5.7 and both 3.0 inline engines, because I want something with a little more power than the 3.6 and 2.0T have to offer and imo any vehicle this heavy and offered with a tow hitch shouldn't even have sub-300HP/TQ options.

I'm a fan of the old inline sixes.
Yes, they don't make a lot of HP, but they make their torque down low where a Jeep needs it. My old CJ-7 with it's 258, and 80:1 crawl ratio.... with that big ol' long crankshaft, in 4-low you could NOT stall it! ?

Hi,

I picked the 6.4/5.7 and Cummins as would like any with a manual transmission and maybe dana 60's min from the factory.

Currently have a 22 JLUR 6mt with 4.88's and enjoy it although also have a Challenger Scat Pack 392/M6 and is way more fun and gets 4-8 mpg better than the Jeep.

I would have loved to get a 392 but rather have 3 pedals, not to mention price difference was a big constant.

I also have a 07 Ram 2500 with a 5.7 Hemi with a G56 manual and would be a fun drivetrain in a lighter JLUR and considering that transmission was used behind 6.7 Cummins I think it would be a good fit.

Either way unfortunately I would be very surprised if the next version of the Jeep has a manual transmission option, let alone V8 or Diesel in the USA as all seem to be going the way of the ?

Regards,
Jim
