Please keep us updated. I know you have a lot more miles on yours, but I'm wondering if there was some sort of rust prevention that was on the parts causing my weird stain and the inside be a little grease.

I just checked it again today and really nothing's changed. It still is a bit grease inside of those plugs, colorless, and now it doesn't have a smell anymore.
Will do!

Wasnt going to argue with the dealer as my Jeep has already been there for a week and will be there until late monday or tuesday at the earliest.
I wouldn't argue with them per se but I would clearly mention that the tailgate disagrees and take a case closed stance from then on.

100% looks like a RMS Leak. Take it in, it will only get worse with time.

I had an RMS Leak on my JL 8k miles in....

Yep, spoke to service manager this morning about it. He also stated that they would only repair it this 1 time under warranty as Jeeps are not designed to drive through mud or water that would touch axles!
Full of shit. They are rated for deeper water/mud than that. Let em fix it. It won't happen again if they do it right. But call BS on that dumb butt and show him the tailgate tag.

The ignorance of folks that work with these things every day never ceases to amaze me.

I doubt your very amazed anymore, I stopped being amazed when I heard that one guy here had the dealer install his oil filter upside down :headbang:

Pull the plugs and run for a few days when it's dry outside. May just be nasty water draining out. Put the plugs back in and see if something still leeches out.

I highly doubt it’s a rear main. Keep us posted!
Curious as to why you don’t think its the rear main. Not doubting anyone one on here but the consensus sure seems to be the rear main seal.

Does it feel/taste/smell like engine oil?
Our transmission fluid is greenish colored from the factory.

Maybe dumb question but would engine oil and tranny oil both be coming from the same holes. Getting kind of old to crawl under stuff anymore but will check it tomorrow. Thanks

The bell housing does not contain fluids, the front seal of the transmission can leak into the housing (very rare) or the rear main (crankshaft) seal on the engine can leak into the same area.
