Mind if I ask what you are trying to accomplish?
I guess I’ve seen a lot of people mod the crap out of their jeeps to make them more capable. From what I’ve seen this takes big bucks that I don’t want to spend. So I’m thinking that if I just try and make my brand new 2024 2 door sport as light as possible, I might get more *performance* out of my already self proven and capable vehicle for weekend fun driving, and light to medium off roading, while not having to spend a lot of money on upgrades.

I’d rather save that money so I can get a rubicon down the line when I’m actually ready to tackle big rock crawling and rubicon trial and stuff.

Wow You are serious- Cut Out Drinking- Careful, you’re already in Obsession level territory. ? ? BTW- followed my own advice and ordered $3K forged wheels, the combo with my Toyo 35/12.50’s is 2lbs lighter than stock wheels and 285/70 KO2’s. On back order of course.
Damn maybe forged wheels are a bigger investment than I realized. Hella jealous of you!

I don't know if this is something you're interested in but a very affordable mod; you could look into a Rubi take off lift. A decent set of AT tires and you're in business.

I got the lightest wheels and tires possible (to my liking).
Aluminum roofrack, but still sturdy.
I wish I knew better ways to reduce weight.
But also want to balance better, more weight at bottom than top. Maybe skid plates.

I’ve totally been looking into this, and it’s on my radar. Locally it’s looking around 1500 for a full set of tires and rims, haven’t looked too much at the suspension take offs.

While that’s not horrible expensive, it’s still a bit much for me at the moment. And honestly, my stock street tires haven’t failed me yet in any situation I’ve put them. I’m still figuring out a safe psi to get them too. I got them down to 20 for an ice hill I had to climb, but they looked like I could get another 5 out of them.

I think once the stock street tires fail in getting me to where I need to go I’ll start seriously saving up for some Rubi take offs.

The real problem is that I should have saved up for another 4 months and gotten the frickin Willy’s trim. That rear locker would have been killer. But I only had a set budget cuz I didn’t want to go into debt, so there was no more money to pull from to get that trim upgrade at the moment of purchase.

5 Wheels, color matched caps, shipping, and confiscatory Ca sales tax. $2996. But they are true fully forged, flow or spin forged are cheaper. My Jeep gets the best, I wear rags and drink Lucky Lager, besides, giving up drinking is to extreme to comprehend. ?

As someone else mentioned check the weight when ordering alloy wheels sometimes they are not much lighter than steelies. Tires are pricey, I put on new tires with-in the first 3-4 weeks of ownership and sold the brand-new factory tires ($500) to help off-set the cost of new ones.

Best of luck buddy and enjoy your new jeep.

@Jeep Wick Just curious...why the surprise at my Wrangler's weight? Is that abnormally high or low for that config?
I thought i had read the 2 door was closer to 3100 lbs but that must have been a previous generation.

I believe my stock TJ's GW was somewhere around 4500 lbs and my CJ-5 was about 2500. 3100 lbs is pretty light for a modern Wrangler, so perhaps you were thinking about a CJ variant?

Dangit...now I'm missing my beloved CJ-5. Wish I didn't have to sell her!

I’d like my 2 door 24 sport to be as light as possible. As there any ways to easily reduce weight? I know there’s trading out the Steel wheels for some alloy, removing the rear seat. Anything else you guys know about?
It's already about as light as it's going to get since you have a Sport. Plastic bumpers, lightweight street tires...the wheels but honestly aftermarket alloys are probably just as heavy as the stock steel are since OEMs put a lot more effort into their wheel designs. You can cut a bunch of weight by removing the spare tire and back seat and then running a modified exhaust that turns down just in front of the rear axle and getting rid of the heavy factory muffler. I would venture close to 200 lbs with just those 3 things, maybe more.

I wish I could do muffler delete, would make the 2.0L sound like it has some balls. Illegal in CA though. :(
